Hey, guys... Yep, you guessed it, although I think the title kind of gave it away... I have officially bought my first Fableblade! ;D ;D ;D Take a look: www.fableblades.com/Fantasy%20Leaf%20Sword.htmlNow, I'd like to draw your attention to a few things that have have posted in the past... Shadowhowler posted here /index.cgi?action=display&board=euromedieval&thread=8481&page=2: What? No!! Well I am currently selling my Bow and might be selling my guitar and amp as well... Maybe I can beat Slayer to owning a Fable Blade... I wouldn't worry about that Seth... there is NO doubt in my mind you will beat Slayer to the line in owning a Fable Blade... our young friend is a bit... scatered. ;D And then Bloodwraith posted here /index.cgi?board=swordreviews&action=display&thread=2131&page=46: Heh heh... Newest addition coming soon... (I was going to wait till I had pictures, but I HAVE to post about it, as my knees are still shaking.) If it isn't a Fable Blade I am going to be disappointed my lad, you have to beat Slayer Care to change your minds, gentlemen? ;D ;D ;D (this is all in good fun, of course! ) Unfortunately, I still lack the funds to pay for shipping, but I'll get those soon enough. I really have only Bren to thank for this opportunity, though. He's known how much I love the Garrigal for some time (partly because it ROCKS , and partly because it was the Fableblade closest to my price range...). Long story short, he had someone else interested in it and gave me a friendly heads-up, which was immediately followed by a certain 14 year old hurrying to sell video games. ;D As you can see, I gathered the money in time, and here we are! Thanks for reading, guys. I apoligize for the fact that there's no real substance to this thread (as of yet!), but I just had to share my extreme excitement, along with the little 'Ah, ha! ' moment to do with Seth, Shadowhowler and BW. -Slayer

Congrats on the acquisition. You've come a long way. Though I've got to say you're still a bit of a sore winner.

Aww, c'mon, lol. ;D Seth and I are totally friends, and I don't think that Shadow and I are to unfriendly either. Bloodwraith is just pure awesome, due to the fact that he owns and designed THE Wraith, so I'm pretty sure I'm safe there as well. With forumites I didn't know, I wouldn't have mentioned that, but when it's all just for fun... ;D Bring it on! Thanks for the congratulations, guys. I wouldn't have guessed that I'd be able to afford a FableBlade this soon, but the SBG community at large helped convince me to save up and NOT spend frivolously on anything else. I wish it was possible to give everyone +1, but I think that that would take a while... ;D -Slayer

Bah, don't get me wrong, I really did mean that congrats. Hell I dont see me owning anything by Brendan for a long time, so you've got me (and a lot of other guys here) beat. I really like that piece in particular, too. Not my favorite of his leafblades, but a damn nice sword.

Oh, I never doubted that you were sincere in your congrats. When I first came to SBG you were pretty critical of me, and rightfully so! However, I feel that your (and many other's) advice and guidance has led me to be much more knowledgeable and less likely to make myself look like an idiot, so thanks for that. I view you entirely as a friend, so don't worry about actually offending me. ;D Once I know that someone's friendly and cool, it's pretty hard for them to unintentionally insult me. Thanks again, and I'll be sure to review the Garrigal when it arrives! (after I get some money and pay for shipping... Why does Brenno have to live so far away? ) However, there's one thing I forgot to mention. I particularly like this sword because it is/was: A. The second sword Brendan ever made, and the first that he would be willing to sell. B. The sword in Bren's logo. If you click on the link in my signiture, look at the top of the screen. The sword on each side of 'Fable Blades' is the Garrigal! C. Peened! Most of Brenno's blades are threaded, but this is one of the few he peened. I strongly prefer peening, although no amount of threaded tangs could get between me and a Fableblade. -Slayer

I've always wondered why the sword of garrigal was much cheaper than his other swords, why is that?

Slayer: congratulations on your purchase and you are lucky you got it, I had my eye on that one and it would have been mine but for an unfortunate twist of fate that meant I had to spend money to buy a new computer. It will be the one sword that you will never give up, no matter what your situation is, just like my wraith, I could be living in a cardboard box but I still wouldn't give up the wraith. Epic failure on howler and Seth's parts though, you let Slayer of all people beat you to the prize, bow your heads in shame.

you know what I don't think anyone should be ashamed of falling before Slayer. seems to me people are still seeing him the same way as when he first joined us. in my opinion our Slayerofdarkness has grown up a lot in his short time with us. he has shown a lot of resolve and resourcefulness in claiming this blade. Congratulations Slayer, you've come a long way kid!

Congrats Slayer... The story is funnier then you think. That 'other guy' who was interested in that sword... that was me. ;D Brendan, true to his word, told me that he had promised you 'first dibs' on that sword... and told me he'd inform you that someone else was interested and give you the chance to buy it... and if you could not/would not... I could have it. So... looks like you managed to find the funds and the will... and my loss is your gain. So, my hats off to you... and you owe ME a thanks for giving you the motivation to finnaly grab your FableBlade... my almost buying it spured you into action. I expect a full review... since I almost bought it myself. So... I'm happy for you... and sad for me... it's a mixed bag. However... you DID get your Fable Blade before Seth... so... here it comes, prepare yourself... Slayer... YOU were right... and I was wrong... ;D

Hahahaha, you guys are funny. Good to see the good humour staying up. It's ok Shadow, I have a weapon for you in conception, I'm sure. Then you and Slayer can duel it out. Is there a field and a Marshall half way between GA and FL? Maybe off to Shootermike's house. Garrigal was cheaper than the others because it was the first long blade I made, and the first double edged sword. Remember the first ever was the 22" bladed Falchion. So it's not up to my current level of craftsmanship and techniques. Though I will refine it before sending it off. Also I didn't make the guard and pommel. The pommel's not bad, but I wouldn't use those guards now that I have the choice. Having said that it's a ruggedly sturdy sword, cuts well, and is pretty decent looking. I will give it a bit of a drawfile and sanding back and see if I can bring it up to date. It's funny coz distal taper was not a consideration for me back then, but I checked it out last night and I unwittingly installed a fair distal taper in the point end. As for peening, I peened it cold and hardened. Man was that a drama. I didn't think to anneal it, not that I had a forge. And no blowtorch. But yeah, If I had been able to build it with a recessed nut I could just pull it apart and replace the guard, and work on the balde better, etc... And congrats to slayer from me too. Good to see him on the move. Re. the sturdiness; Check out this Vid. Major mess up. I way overdid the downward cutting angle : And my first youtube vid, before I discovered MS MovieMaker - I got it clean through 4 water bottles.

Thanks, everyone! ;D I'm sorry for Shadowhowler, although I had actually guessed that he might be interested in it awhile back... I guess now you'll just have to get a custom that's perfect for you, eh? ;D I won't forget how dangerous it is, don't worry. The Garrigal will be my 5th real sword, although my first over $200 . I've had my fair share of minor cuts, so I totally realize just how much damage a good sword can do. So, I guess my first review will be of a Fableblade, lol. Then again, seeing as I am the self-proclaimed Fableblades' #1 fan, it seems kind of fitting, dont you think? ;D -Slayer

Oh man, I am never going to let Sean live this down. Now I have something to rub in his face when he tells me I have to give up on the hammer grip. ;D ;D ;D ;D I seriously can't wait for that review Slayer. Hurry up and pay the postage already, I'm getting anxious here!

Just as soon as I can, mate. Now I just have to convince my mom to take me to a video game store that will buy MORE of my collection, and that should get me enough to buy the FTW in addition to paying shipping! -Slayer
