LOL @ Slayer
Sure, if you don't mind me calling you SOD! That may actually serve for some punny moments, yes? Thanks for the tip about 'Exalt' - didn't know what that was but seemed somemwhat blasphemous so I never clicked. Thanks again; +1 to you for enlightening me!

www.fx-sabers.com/index.htmand their forums: www.fx-sabers.com/forum/For all your lightsaber needs. Saber smithing, led, luxeon, master replica. Before I found this website and became a sword nut, I was a saber nut (still am) and lurked (few posts) on this forum ALOT. Especially during halloween when everyone gets their awesome costumes together to justify dropping 400 bucks on a custom saber lol. Hell if your just a Star Wars nut in general like me, good place.

i actually ahve a stunt saber from random sabers from when they were still taking orders i love it gotta love being a star wars fan... you know until i saw that god awful clone wars cartoon they put out last summer... i left the theatre embarassed of being a star wars fan for the first time in my life haha. i thought about just getting a custom made but i think half the fun of a saber is making it the traditional jedi way... and the way the props were made haha "well what do we have here" "camera flash" "here put these rubber strips and a d ring on it....VOILA LASER SWORD!"

You can find some of those old camera flashes for very very cheap on ebay to make a legit prop. One of the best saber smiths on that site took one and made this awesome saber that can be stripped apart for "repair" with glowing crystals and other sound effects out of one. Also some of the sound systems that have been designed on those forums are amazing. Beats the force fx sabers by ALOT. Loud and crisper, with more general sounds for the various motions. Very sensitive to movement and changes in movement. As well as saber lock effects. So when you clash and push against each other you get that awesome crackling sound. www.ultrasabers.com/ Also there is the ultrasabers link. With some new "commercial" I've never seen but pretty funny.

[glow=red,2,300]Sweeeeeeet.....[/glow] The discription cautions against using it in the maner it is used in the vid, sadly... It would be AWESOME if they were durable enough to whack the crap out of em. There's people who do make them like that, these ones use a string of LEDs and when you hit them the LEDs will break causing stutters along the beam. But some "custom" makers out there use Luxeon 3 lights that are in the hilt with special durable plastic that transfers the light from the hilt all the way to the tip almost with the same brightness. I almost had one custom made way back when but I had better things to spend 300$ on.

I'm considering nabbing one of those ultra edge gunmetal ones. EDIT: Screw it, it's pretty damn cheap, ordered a red ultra edge gunmetal saber, viewed here: www.ultrasabers.com/S3_p/stunt-ss.htmI was looking for a fun training sword, I found one (apparently these are durable enough to go up against a bokken ) I'll do a review for the laughs when I get one.

Nice buy, I have seen one break but they are damn strong. There's sites around where you can 'make your own' in a little piece selector thing and then they'll assemble it and send it to you but I forget the place.
There's also a hardcore guy in england or something on youtube that makes these custom pieces, though they're spendy like 400+.

the place ken is talking about is the custom saber shop just google it and its the modular hilt system... i thoguht about doing that for my new one... granted it would look better and could always swap otu parts but i wanna go the traditional jedi way for this new one i'm gonna make. maybe the one after that i'll use MHS parts

The Custom Saber Shop: www.thecustomsabershop.com/They sell parts so you can build your own, and the forums have all the information you can possibly need to do so. The only thing that's kept me from building/buying one is that every time I can spare that much money it becomes a sword instead. Take a look around the galleries in their forum, some of them are really awesome. There's one someone made using three LEDs, one red, one green, and one blue, and each has a corresponding dial so it can be set to pretty much any color you want. Building one of these is one my list of "things I want to do eventually" but I have a much harder time justifying than buying a sword, even if swords are usually more expensive.

I actually owned one of these models. It was the Vader one (Red) It was pretty cool, i loved the sound it made when you turned it on (just like the films). And the light would get longer out of the hilt instead of just all coming on at once too. It was pretty sweet, and well worth the $120 i paid for it at the time. Don't have it anymore though, although i still get to see it now and again. Gave it to my brother one year when i was too broke to afford a Christmas present for him.

Thats a shame. If you ever wanted to pick one up again the prices have gone down. The newest ones in stores sell for $99. While some of the older ones (which you would be lucky to see in stores) tend to go for about 80. There is also a radioshack exclusive build your own for about 40. But its plastic parts =/.

The one I got was about 84 bucks, not including shipping. No sound though. Then again, it's difficult to get a good sound card in those anyway.

Yeah I always look at those and wish they had a sound card. The awesome durable saber with a sound card for cheap. But I just can't bring myself to send one in and lose the activation and deactivation effect.
The build your own is like that, but with a giant led (sempriniesque is the key word) instead of a lexeon. So while its great for dueling, the light is crappy and the loss of the effect makes me sad lol. Thought I would send that one in maybe, becuase they actually replace all three colors that are already inside the hilt, so you get three for one.
I had so much fun when I bought these at my last job (so damn happy when we got them in, employee discount ftw). My friend and I (assistant manager) took them back to his place, turned down all the lights and went at it (wait a second........). Awesome fun lol. Though those sabers are all scuffed up now.

I asked if it was possible to get the ultrasound card installed in mine, but I'm not very optimistic about it.
Either way it's gonna be awesome.

Well if anything, they make for AWESOME photo ops. Comes out looking like your rotoscoped it on film and picture, when you in fact did no such thing.
