I saw that sword in your pocket thread, and one knife caught my attention. I have been looking for a nice work knife/something to carry on me and I wanted it to stand out a bit. Something to make a friend go, only you would carry that. So while searching sites and ebay I found a variation of it (as well as the cheapest price for the original I wanted). cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=250379127858Thats pretty much the max I would pay for a knife, and it would really have to catch my eye to warrent that kind of price. Though they have some other nice ones for double that. So how does this one look to you guys? EDIT: FIXED LINK.

hmm never seen anything like that. For the price you can buy a full size sword, so why buy a little knife version? I guess if you really want to stick out of the knife owning crowd this would probably do it.

While yeah that is true I need a knife for work, more of a utility but also, as I said, would stand out as a regular carry knife. Its fits in the legal limits for blade lengths here in ny (though barely I belive lol). I also wanted something "oriental" without any modern feel to it. Almost going so far as having a kogatana in my pocket lol. But I don't think you could find one small and cheap enough for legal carry. Than again they do also carry these: cgi.ebay.com/Japanese-KOGATANA-Forged-Small-Knife-White-Steel_W0QQitemZ250389627353QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item250389627353&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262I did some research on them (although that is slightly altered from the original version, which more like a straight razor with a slight tip) and they were these very very popular pocket knives in japa some 20-30 years ago. So common and popular that kids carried them in school as an everyday tool. But after some big knife problem they dried up and very few companies make them anymore. A big problem is it has no lock. So these things are katana sharp, with no lock, in your pocket. It comes in a little box thing maybe I could keep it in that to keep it closed. But I just realized the kogatana and the higonokami are about the same price. So if you had to pick one. Which one? Oh yeah and in reguards to the price thing in buying another sword. After getting my first "expensive" sword I don't think I can go back to churned out sub $80 masahiro/musashi Katanas. So its going to be a while before I get another sword lol. But a nice knife, now that could hold me over.

That's a nice knife, albeit a bit pricey for me. I'd choose the kogatana over that other one simply because there's no safety on the other one...the tab to deploy the blade could get caught inside your pocket.

Yeah I'm wondering if I could make a makeshift lock for it because I really like the original knife.

Also can anyone tell me anything about yasuki steel? It seems to come in in three versions. I can't remember the cheapest but white is the standard and blue is the best.

At least the price includes shipping, but it's probably going to take awhile coming from Osaka, Japan.

It says about 2 weeks. Faster if I insure for 9 Bucks. Im really wondering how loose it is in the handle. Maybe its in there kind of tight for a non lock blade. Plus the "thumb lock".

Already ordered it. My lack of anything resembling patience had me opt for the extra shipping for it to get here quicker. But anything slower than right now is still to slow for me lol. I'll put up a review of it if thats allowed/anyone might be interested in a unique looking knife. If I didn't just spend some money on Resident Evil 5 I would have picked up the Kogatana also, oh well lol.
EDIT: Cant belive I put in aloud instead of allowed. DOH!

I'll look forward to it. Good knife reviews are few and far between, these days...
