I didn't really know where to put this thread, since it's about a Middle-Eastern blade, so I put it here. Anyway, I am very familiar with Middle-Eastern weapons, and I am considering getting a Windlass Jambiya, an Arabian dagger. Do any of you know (from experience or viewing) if it cuts? I'd prefer a review or a video if you have one.

I'm not sure if people do this on the SBGforum, but on other forums this is called a "bump".

I'm afraid I'm of no help here... I'd have sworn there was a review on this site of the Jambiya, or somebody having mentioned owning one, but in a search I can't find it. Haven't got one myself, but the piece has intrigued me in the past. I suppose for $70 it's worth a shot. Bear in mind they're made blunt, but can be sharpened for an extra fee, though some prefer to do it all themselves... I say give it a go and get back to us if nobody else can answer for you.

Oh yeah, I know it comes blunt (it's a Windlass, after all). My question was once it is sharpened could it cut.

I imagine if given a proper edge it would cut just fine. Heck, anything with a proper edge would cut just fine for a bit.
Given Windlass' reputation, particularly for their shorter blades, I'd say this is a pretty safe bet.

It should cut; I've had a fair share of their edged weapons and they can take and will hold an edge- cutting/slashing should be no problem. Their sharpening option for a knife is less than $20 so let them do it- or you do it and have some fun!
