I...don't get the remote comment...Explain please? ;D
I picked it up at Wal-Mart while doing my action-figure shopping (admittedly, I'm still very much a kid), for only 40-something dollars. My old knife, that I've had for some almost ten years, was just falling apart. Had to tighten the assembly screw every couple of days, rubber inserts falling out, the paint had chipped so bad by then that I sanded the whole thing a nice, satin finish. I just needed a new knife, and opted for this one since opening a standard folder is a PAIN with my left hand.

Ah, where do you all live that you can carry these around?! Laws in the US, particularly MI are pretty strict: pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/mi.txtI love a lot of the ones you guys have posted, unfortunately I wouldn't be able to take them even 1 foot off my property. Out of all the one's you posted I think the coolest looking "legal" one I can carry is that Gerber Presto 3.0. Thank you kidc, I hope to pick one of them up soon. As for my collection? Well I have a few "generic" crappy dollar store knives that I carry when needed. I won't post a picture because they are as plain and generic as you'd imagine.

As far as I have been able to find out you can carry about anything in Indiana except an automatic knife. Here's some I have laying around. Here's some not functional but kinda pretty.

Last time I bothered to check, VA law only restricted automatic knives and anything over 3.5". Of course, my fixed blades still run 4.5-5" but nobody's stopped me for it yet. I just picked up a Gerber Obsidian a few days ago. Not a bad knife, but could use some ergonomic fine-tuning. The bottom of the grip, where the tools are, feels a bit weak. I could probably tighten up the screws a bit and it'd be better off, but it just feels insubstantial. Out of the box it was quite sharp, though. Lifted hair nicely; a couple passes with the ol' steel and it's having no problem at all. Having the extra tools is handy, but I already have them all on other things. Never too many bottle openers, though. Overall I'd say it's fine. I only bought it because my favorite knife won't hold an edge anymore. This ought to last a while, though. I'm still wanting to buy another kanetsune, though. Thinking of hitting up Brenno for a nice little double edger of about 5" or so. The blank he'd sent to brotherbanzai caught my eye and I'd rather like something in that vein, myself...

I thought about picking up the Obsidian, Random. It's definitely a great looking knife. Ultimately I went with the Presto because it's more comfortable in my hand and I felt the serrations would be more useful than the tools for day-to-day things. Still, it was a tough call.
OldSchool, thanks for the comments. I'm definitely enjoying the blade. I live in Florida, where blade laws are fairly nil. If it isn't automatic and the blade isnt over 4 or 4.5", then you can carry it. Our brandishing laws are also strange. For instance, I could carry a sword in a scabbard/belt out around town and, as long as I didn't make any threatening movements or wave it around at people, I'd be well within the law. Of course, taking it into stores and other private property....another matter altogether. ;D

I'd have probably gotten a Presto, too, had I the option. Target, or at least the one I work for, doesn't have the best selection of knives. There was a leatherman that tempted me, but I prefer Gerber.

Random: Bren wouldn't be able to export a double edged knife, they are according to customs illegal to import and export.

My every day knife is a 2 1/2 inch Winchester buckish knife and it's good for 12 dollars but recently I saw my friends knife that I just fell in love with cause on top of every thing else it has this little hook on the back of the blade that hooks onto the edge of the pocket when u draw it and it can quickly open
I wish I could remember the name...

Man you got me beat with just that one. That is one nice knife. Don't know why but I have ever been able to get myself to pay that much for a tactiacal folder. $200.00 is my upper limit.

Shhh... I know... But it called my name. (psst, hey buddy!) Still not out of the dog house and still doing "honey dews"... Hope it will be worth it when it's all said and done. Sometimes the price we have to pay to get what we want is more than the price we have to pay. I do dig the pocket sword though.
