Some darn good looking displays D.B. ! Soooo..you're of Scottish ancestry? I believe that everyone should be as knowledgeable of their Family roots as is possible. Knowing where one comes from can help one understand why they are where they are. Congratulations !! I have been looking looking at the Cold Steel Scottish Dirk for some time. How do you rate it as far as general quality of the materials, finish, durability, functionality, etc. ? EDIT - Same questions as to the scabbard. Thanks. Sorry I can't show my displays as all I have is a standard 2-sword stand.

Alvin, the Cold Steel Dirk is an excellent piece. It's sturdy, sharp with a satin finished blade of carbon steel. No idea of kind of carbon steel. The handle looks hand carved rosewood (?) with like little brass pins for ornaments and a steel peened cap. It's made in India. The scabbard is made of leather with blackened steel ends. Large leather belt loop. Maybe too large. The Dirk and scabbard compliment each other nicely. I have it hanging by my front door for a reason.. . I think it's well worth the $109 I paid for it. I'd recon you'd like it.
KingRat, now THAT is what I'm talking about! Schwing! If that's your's.... I want to visit...PLEASE???

Thanks D.B. I do think that I'll eBay a little more with a purchase in mind. Looks like they're still available for about what you paid. The only hands-on review I'd seen was Jake's review of over a year ago. That review first got me real interested in it. He seemed to be very happy with his.

The eBay adverts indicate that the steel is 1055 carbon. Thanks for the second opinion.

How about this: Now THAT is what I'm TALKIN ABOUT!!! My wife already told me I could have my armory when we buy a bigger house- if we hit the lotto? Mine will be like this, but instead of high, it'll be wide and long. You know, so I can get at them easier w/out having to roll out wheeled ladders and such. As of this moment, my swords hang out on tables, various corners, sofas.... OP, nicely done, nicely done...I like the sword over the crest but it'd be even cooler if you could have that crest silkscreened or painted onto a shield and hang the Albrecht behind it...but thats just me.

I really like this thing, but few of my swords will hang in it properly. I also can't see paying 80+ dollars for what is probably plastic or "cold cast resin".. Here's a setup I use for some of my stuff: Found some antique gun racks in the attic and realized they hold swords as well. Can you spot the wallhanger?

I kinda like the top wall rack myself, except I'm afraid that I'd think I was on the set of the old Addams Family program. Great idea with the old gun rack. What's the make on what looks like to me a large Dirk that's in front of the nice targe?

Alvin, are you talking about this one: www.kultofathena.com/product~item~402352~name~Primitive+Scottish+Dirk.htmIf you're talking about one of the two behind it, the black handled one with the clasp around it is a flea market special I was given as a gift. The one ofter that is a cheap "crusader sword" I cut down and removed the hilt from. Master293 wins a gold star. Or something. That sword was also a gift.

Thank you Paladin. I didn't want to over do the Crest thing. I had to hang the one I have as my Daughter and her Fiancé gave it to us for Christmas. Like the idea though.
iestyn, nicely done and good idea. Thanks for posting it up. Nice swords and great Targe!

WOW Bill. Thats beautiful. I love your taste in furniture. And is that top arch an internal window or a mirror? Have you got other beautiful furniture like those lamp stems and the chair? If so we need a tour of Bills house thread. +1 for going the extra mile
