Please help. I saw some suggestions for video editing in a thread here somewhere but I can't seem to stumble upon it again. Please give me some suggestions for a good video editing software. Thanks, Jim

Two more good ones are Ulead Video Studio and Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum
Both are very good. Ulead is a little easier to use but does not have as many features as Vegas.

Sony's Vegas Movie Studio Platinum works well for me. But, before spending money I'd give Windows Movie Maker a try.

primarily I use Windows Movie Maker. I also have AVS editor but I'm not overly fond of it. I don't reccomend.

I use Windows Movie Maker too. I have Vaga 7.0 installed also as a back up, but I only used it once to edit some weird format someone gave me. I got Vagas 7.0 via Shareaza with a CD key.

I'd recommend adobe premiere. But windows movie maker is good for your general movie making needs, plus its free.
They're both easy enough to use once you get the hang of video editing in general.

Personally I use either Premier and After Effects or Final Cut Pro. I have never like avid much myself, but it's more of a personal thing.

You didn't mention whether you're on a PC or a Mac, so i'll cover both... Mac - Final Cut Express will do just about anything you need done. PC - if you're on a PC & a budget under $25,000 (and i'm assuming you are), get Vegas! You can get the basic, stripped down intro version for under $100, and the full version (Vegas Pro 8) is still under $500, which is a deal! Personally, I like Avid. Great big, expensive Avid.
