LOVE the two Czech pieces... the Scottish one is not to my taste... Well, ummmmmmm. Not Scot! Clicky up some Cromwell and mortuary swords. Just another genre of the baskets really. We'll try to find a nice Irish one for you. Oh, nevr mind. Aaron can do up a Nippon basket for you. With the money involved right now, if debt free and gainfully accruing, I'd be looking at more American swords from the 1800-1850 eras and precursors of those. a good number of neatos really aren't that expensive in the long run. There is even a spanking nice wakasashi in shirasaya in that range. I would definitely be looking at antiques if it were a single purchase. Cheers Hotspur; list my lookers at this point? Too many sell waiting for me I was under the impression that Armour Class was a Scottish manufacturer That was what I meant... not really the sword itself ... I may be mistaken...

God YES... love a good hollow-ground blade... and noone could do them quite like Jody (RIP) Second that. I got one of his katanas; now it's just a matter of commissioning a saya for it. --Edward P.S. Like my Kolombatovich rapier, I intend to be buried with this katana . P.P.S. I keep saying I want to be buried with my weapons; I wonder if there will be any space in my coffin left for me?

Like Hotspur I would also buy antiques. It is hard to say specifically what I would buy, but I would like to add more Victorian era British cavalry officers' swords to my collection (with provenance, of course). In particular I would look for swords that belonged to officers who served in India, Afghanistan, and the North West Frontier, as well as the small Niger-Sudan Campaign of 1897. I might be able to find 2-4 of such swords if I stayed within the $3000 budget, depending on whether I found a sleeper on eBay or paid a dealer's price. If I had any money left at the end of it, I might buy am unremarkable WWI era P1897 to sharpen and play with. If not confined to just swords, I would also buy sword/history related books.

After reading the post regarding Windlass’s new "sword of Muhammad", It got me thinking. If you had $3000 and you had to spend it on a sword or multiple swords what would you buy? I have one on order now that will come in close to that price with mounting and polishing, perhaps a bit more. I have commissioned a custom katana made from twist-forged cable from the Dragonfly Forge. The blade will be shinogi zukuri with o-kissaki, 29" with 1 inch tori-sori, and traditional niku. I intend on commissioning a custom tsuba from Bartosz Ulatowski in Poland and having the mounting done by Skip (if I can get him to talk to me again). I have not decided on a polisher.

Just a question on the Jody Samson, since he's gone (dont want to disrespect his memory), wont his swords be worth more by a collectors value ? I dont suppose anyone knows if impacts have been made on the collection value of his blades since his passing ?

I expect that is or will be true... but I have not given it too much thought or done any research on it.

Using Bob Engnath as a model, I can only guess that Samson's pieces will increase in value as well, due to his passing. --Edward

Samson's works will increase in value, as they have instantly entered the category of "things that will never be made again."

If I had 3 grand I'd go back to Baja and pay for a few "classy girls" to get through another few weeks of massage school. Then, of course, come back home broke but with a smile. (and sore....very very sore) Nahhhh, I'd want a custom viking from Tinker with an awesome scabbard dressed in real hide and accented with bronze or silver.

Funny question. I am getting $3200 for my yearly bonus next week. I already got my stuff picked out:
Mercenary's Tailor - Plate Cuirass, Small Pauldrons Schmitthenner Leather - Arms and Legs with Steel Cops Kult of Athena - Two Del Tins By The Sword - New Tunics, New Pants Ravenswood Leather - Huntsmen's Jerkin Revival Clothing - Liripipe Hood, Pouch, Belt
All together, it leaves me with about $800-$1000 left over to dump into my savings for the various yearly events I go to.

Ummmm....................3 grand will pay off my credit card, or reduce to 25K my loan, or pimp my ride so I could pick up ladies........but restricting to swords i'd have a custom naginata/kat hybrid: 1095 spring steel 36" inch blade shinogi zukuri style kissaki cloudy hamon (sorry I don't know how to adequately say it) tiger horimono bo hi 15" long tsuka blue silk ito silver fittings black same full wrap silver fuchi and koshirae classic sunburst tsuba EDIT: Also I could buy over 10,000 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition for my WASR 10........but then I guess I'd be screaming for unwanted attention

Poohze-- WOW I love that sword, and my all time FAVORITE author. Now I'll have to dig through my book boxes and reread Glory Road. Heinlein wrote quite a few books that had swords in them. Probably one of the reasons I have a Sword addiction. ;D So I think I would choose to spend my imaginary money on this sword as well. Second choice would be the Conan sword. ;D

Thats a fav of mine as well. I am either planning on doing black or Renaissance Red (oxblood-ish). Not sure right now, already I've began to reconsider. I am beginning to lean toward just doing all leather, because I am all too familiar with trying to wear courboille or plate armor at the Georgia Faire. Sure it looks cool, but it makes for a really long and painful few days. ;D What is more interesting is that when you have $3000 (or in my case $3200) in your pocket, other things suprisingly take priority. Though I have a stable, adequete income - it's amazing how suddenly guilty you feel by blowing the whole $3000 on yourself. Soon, you are negotiating with your mind on how to spend $1500 and $1500 on your family, or how to spend $1000 on yourself, spend $1000 on your family, and put $1000 into savings because you don't know how the economy is going to turn. Just an interesting point that came up just before my deposit hits. I've already crossed out about half the stuff on my previously mentioned list. ;D

I'm planing on light colered linnen and a Viking style outfit this year... something MUCH more light-wieght. I was melting last year. What is more interesting is that when you have $3000 (or in my case $3200) in your pocket, other things suprisingly take priority.
