Within the confines of the budget for a complete sword?
MAS L6 custom or a Hataya Kotetsu. Either with bo-hi and 27-28" range. For the day when I can be safe and proficient enough to work with a live blade all the time while retiring my iaito.
So far, I prefer the balance of the current MAS I own but I can appreciate the tip heavy Kotetsu for cutting.

I think you should spend that $2,500 to send Marc to Scottland for dialect lessons

Running back a bit, with $3k you may as well buy a real Patton saber, rather than put all that into "fixing" a reproduction. Still should have extra for a lesson or two, though likely books and videos would be easier to come by at this point... Sorry, I don't type accent or dialect.

Well, if i had $3000 in my pocket, i would probably be looking to put it towards a serious suit of Yoroi Armor.

This one: forums.swordforum.com/showthread.php?t=94369 It is beyond beautiful... the sword and the scabbard Brian made for it... stunning. I was very, VERY tempted to pick this up... even tho I have NO way to afford it and would be on the couch for a LONG time... if not kicked to the curb by the wife. At least I would have that sexy peice of steal and leather to snuggle.

Sorry to be a noob once again, but what exactly is Yoroi Armor? -Slayer Samurai armour... with Jim, you can rest assured that just about EVERYTHING he is into has something to do with the Samurai. He's not 'all over the map' as a collecter, like a lot of us are.

God YES... love a good hollow-ground blade... and noone could do them quite like Jody (RIP) Exactly. I had never seen as beautifuly done a hollow-ground blade as is on that sword... *AND* it's a leafBlade, I'm nuts for leafblades. Lastly, it is one of Jody's last peices... and much to my (and all of our) deep sadness and regret there will never be any more of these stunning swords from him. I have enough in savings to have bought it... and while I my go 'Ooo... I really want that' over a lot of swords I can't afford, just like ALL of us do, in honestly came very, VERY close to buying that one, dispite the fact that I can't afford it, for all the above listed reasons. Not to mention that scabbard is one of Brian's most amazing works to date... and thats saying something. Whoever bought that peice will not regret it, I'm sure.

I have no ninja's Slayer... but I could loan you some fat, out of shape old wanna be Samurai. I would send no ill will or jealousy to the buyer of that sword tho... whoever he/she may be, they OBVOUSLY appricate beauty and have excelent taste. No... I rather buy them a beer and hope they would be kind enough to just let me touch that sword... maybe dry handle it a little bit.

LOVE the two Czech pieces... the Scottish one is not to my taste... Well, ummmmmmm. Not Scot! Clicky up some Cromwell and mortuary swords. Just another genre of the baskets really. We'll try to find a nice Irish one for you. Oh, nevr mind. Aaron can do up a Nippon basket for you. With the money involved right now, if debt free and gainfully accruing, I'd be looking at more American swords from the 1800-1850 eras and precursors of those. a good number of neatos really aren't that expensive in the long run. There is even a spanking nice wakasashi in shirasaya in that range. I would definitely be looking at antiques if it were a single purchase. Cheers Hotspur; list my lookers at this point? Too many sell waiting for me
