Well we've had this discussion a few times before, but i have some new thoughts on it so i'll chime in...
Part of the reason we don't see as many sub $300 reviews nowadays is of course the economy (which has been mentioned). Second is, there have already been a ton of them done. There are a lot of sub $300 swords that have been reviewed, and only so many new models coming out each year so, do the math...
This forum is targeted at the sub $300 range, but not limited to that mark. The $300 target is the focus of these boards the same as the $3000 target is the focus of many other "high end" boards. So there is a good possibility that they are over there asking questions similar to ours when someone comes along and reviews a sword which doesn't fall in their target range.
Either way knowledge that can be shared should be shared, and if someone has a sword that cost $305.00 they shouldn't be denied the opportunity to share it with the rest of us. I myself am guilty of doing $550 - to $900 - all the way up to $3000 sword reviews. Come to think of it? I don't think i ever reviewed a sword which was under $300.... But i don't feel bad about any of it to tell you the truth. I offer good advice to people on sub $300 blades, and use them myself all the time. I never try to push higher end wares, or discourage people from buying mid-level swords...
So its like i said, $300 is the target... You try to hit the target, but every now and then your way off. You can't have "sub $300 blinders on all the time", you gotta force yourself to take a look around once in awhile or you may never realize what else is out there. Does that make me an elitist? Far from it,... as far as i am concerned "to each his/her own". Its just when i have the opportunity to either #1 - review a sub $300 sword which has been reviewed 5 times already, or #2 - review something that is new and rarely seen as something fun and educational... I prefer the latter.
