Yeah... I have not seen a functional version of that sword before... You could try sending the info to Eyal at Darksword Armoury. He has made custom LotR swords by request before... he may be willing to do so again.

I have seen it up close. Full-on wallhanger, pretty to look at, unwieldy as hell. If you're costuming up for a Lord Of The Rings event --or into the fandom/collecting-- I'd recommend getting it.
If you're looking for something to wield or practice with, I'll second the Darksword Armory recommendation.

Guthwine was always one of my favorite swords, if only because Eomer's one of my favorite characters. I guess that one's a fair rendition, such as it is.

Hello Sabreur . . I owned this sword a long time ago and well, as a wallhanger it's a beautiful piece, heavy as a brick, pretty well done, middle sharp, well finished. If you swing it, you'll feel the mass of the wallhanger , too heavy for one handed sword, believe me ... is not recommendable for practice or swings .. Hope this helps ! ..

I just asked Brenno if he'd do one.

Have y'all seen these pics of Theodin, and Eowyn's swords. www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/Exhibit/WepEx.htmNotice the lack of mirror polish UC bling bling. Very different to how UC make them. And yeah, of course I could make you a great copy of one of those sword, but I'd be enlisting Brother Banzai to make the castings of course. Thats his field of expertise, man he's good. But if we gave BB some general guidelines and let he and I design something quite different, I guarantee the result would blow that sword out of the water. BB's sculptures are that good, watching him replicate the Conan hilts, he can do stuff far better than the originals (no offence to the memory of JS but BB spends dozens of hours on his sculptures and the results are amazing). It would be good to do it artistically different to the WETA ones. All pie in the sky of course, but if someone had a couple of K to drop on one we could make something really special.

A couple grand...I'll need a few bumps up in the paygrade before I approach that sort of commission. Thanks for sharing though, Brendan.

Well, maybe some change... But yeah, BB's work is worth it. I could always draw you a sketch for free ...

Haha, I have a feeling that once Brendan gets through Lord of the Rings and the Silmarillion, he's going to explode deciding which swords to make first... ;D

Looks unwieldy, not something I'd buy to cut with. And I'm not into Euros really. (I like the money but not the swords). Besides getting this would make me feel such a faker.

Like in; look I am a rohirrim swordsman!!! jippy hippy!!!! kind of faker. If I wanted a broadsword, I'd buy me a more discrete and managable one.
