Hi I have a sword in my possession, came to me through somebody who did not want it any more. I believe it to be some eastern-culture sword but I am not sure. Can anyone here maybe identify and evaluate the sword for me?
Thanx!!!

I'll try... oooommmmmmmmmmm You have a tourist version of a Burmese Dha from around the era of the Vietnam war. The tourist peices are usually best defined by thin blades, and sss shaped markings runing along the spine... am I right? Nah, seriously.....put up some pictures

I would be glad to add some photos but I do not see how this is done? Upload the photos to your computer. Sign up for an account at photobucket.com Load the photos to that website. Copy and paste the link they give you for posting the pictures on forums.

I do not see how it is foolish. Photobucket is a great image hosting site that is relatively easy to use. E-Mailing all of us would be tiresome and unnecessary. Unless you are just joking... If so, please make it more obvious. ;D

Ah... I was assuming so as well, but I have seen some pretty dumb posts... Most of them being my ancient posts when I first joined up...

Can anyone here maybe identify and evaluate the sword for me? Thanx!!! What criteria is used to label it an "eastern culture sword"? Can you provide a broader description or even better a pictorial of it? Thanks in advance buddy............

Same. It may or may not be a nihinto Katana. But I am not sure if it is a Nihinto, or even a Katana for that matter (As there are a bunch of swords that are similar to a Katana. I cannot distinguish the difference).

The pictures are poor....
If it is what it appears to be it is Japanese , and a shobu zukuri geometry .... nice... rare on antiques of katana length...
How long is the blade of the sword/
The pictures really need to be better , with hi-res images of the tip of the blade, any "grain " in the steel of the blade , and the part of the blade that goes in the handle (tang....nakago) as well as any mei (signature) on the nakago .
I really can't tell anything from the pictures but it looks interesting, and well worth pursuing

Looks shobu. Also, it looks like the Ito wrap was removed leaving a full rayskin wrap. (there are dark diamond "stains" the same pattern an Ito wrap reveals the rayskin)
