Hello mah peeps! So, I have pretty much narrowed my future *within the next year* to 2 swords. I would either like the DSA Anduril sword, or the sword of the witch-king from DSA. Putting aside the fact that the witch-king sword is $50 more, which would you recommend? As far as I know, the witch-king is only owned by one person, but if you own Anduril, let me know what you think Thanks guys! poo

Or are you actually a DSA Agent, paid to spread the word

My pick of the two would probably be the witch king sword. Soooo badass.

Between the two, witch-king would be my choice, then again seeing a review before would be in order to make a good decision. Kingrat has a point, you probably have your reasons poo to choose DSA, but to help you i would like to know what motivate you toward those choices over any other DSA or other makers models.

I choose DSA because they are big and durable, and after paying $200 for a sword that broke at the hilt within a week of purchase, I appreciate the durability. I've also looked at Gen 2, Windlass, and Cold Steel products, but the majority of the reviews state that DSA has the best quality for the sub-300 dollar range.

I'd take Glamdring over any of them... Also given the slenderness of the Witch King grip I wonder how big the tang is under there? Are there any pics of the DSA witchking? I can't find it...
*edit* Found the pics /index.cgi?board=europeansword&action=display&thread=7624&page=5
The witch king looks sweet - still a concern about tang size though...

I've sent a PM to Eyal asking about the weight. But, if Glamdring comes out (custom or not) sooner than May, I might have to look into that one too

I had an Andruil... it *IS* big and heavy... but solid and if you put a good edge on it, it cuts like a beast. I like the look of the witchking sword much more then the Aundruil... but, as Brenden pointed out, the tang on that one has got to be kinda small... and thus I think it would not have the famed DSA durrability your looking for.

Hello, new to the forum recently.I have a few of DSA's swords (& a few others from other manufacturers) & if anyone is interested in a Anduril or Ranger sword from DSA,they have several of each for $175 on EBay only. Demo models with either a small cosmetic flaw on pommel or hilt, I grabbed both for the price, but if your one for cutting & not for perfect look, then great deal ! Just thought I'd share with my 1st post. & I am not connected with DSA in any way. even thought they are heavier, i like that they are built strong. Not good for speed swings, but will drive back any opponent !!

Thanks myrddin! My two-handed Gothic sword from DSA is just under 2 pounds lighter than the Anduril :/, but I certainly do love the look of Anduril. I suppose I could use some muscle training Thanks for the advice guys! have a karma Myrddin! poo

Yeah got a DSA Gothic and I find that pushes the outer limits of sword weight for me ...... yeah lots of push ups help but you still gotta get it to speed and good form ....... heavy blades make that difficult ...... I've found the Gothic okay cause of that real narrow taper allows the first foot from the tip to fly fast and cut ......... But hey I love historical swords not as big into fantasy blades no matter how well made

I have the Goth also, pick up an Anduril & train with that & THEN grab your goth,it will feel an extra pd lighter ! The Ranger will end up being a cutting beast. I think DSA will make a few Witch Kings, but i believe they are not going to be doing any more runs on LOTR swords-except WK......?
& thanx for my 1st karma ;D
Guess the better question is what do you want to do with a sword buy, choice between these 2 swords of DSA's as they tickle yer fancy,or buy a sword (whether DSA or someone else) a sword that will destroy almost anything- a beast cutter- or for about the same $ but for use to gain training / fighting experience, ie- light weight with a quality forged blade & balanced ? If it's a choice of the 2 DSA's, Haven't seen the Witch king yet so hard to say, so it is going to be little while i would wait it out & check reviews on WK.

well, I'm 13, and my dad won't let me get a sharpened sword So mainly I'm just looking for something durable (like my Gothic). Like I said, I've been disappointed too many times by cheap wall-hanger swords. Well, only twice, but with all the money I spent on them, I could have bought a DSA sword (plus it took me about 5 months to save up for) . At the moment I'm leaning towards Anduril. But, as I was looking on the SBG sword store, I remembered Jason Woodard's Guardian sword :/. So now the question is Anduril, or Guardian! But I'm just going to wait until I have the money...and until the guardian's in stock . Thanks for the halp! poo

In would go for the guardian. It is just as pretty, if not prettier and I would trust the build quality more.

I agree with Seth. I love the look of the Guardian... and it's something very unique. Also the thick wide blade would be VERY durable, and something different from your Gothic, which narrows considerably towards the tip.
