But is the "th" a soft one like in "the", or a hard sound as in "throw"? This is my opinion of the matter.

Haha! This whole thread is hilarious...almost as hilarious as Daniels' description of shipping services in this months digest. Holy smokes - someone reads those! You're not missing much Ummm yeah.... just the premier gathering place of those in the various swordly arts... top smiths , and mounters..polishers... sensei and shihan o f various japanese sword traditions... not to mention Chinese , Korean, Mideasten , Pacific Islands and Western sword traditions as well..... From Japanese sword masters to western mastersmiths... Hollywood stage swordfight choreographers to metallurgists and everything in between... SFI is without a doubt indespensible and the contributions it has given to the community over the past 10 years should not be belittled SBG is a great place too... and scorning other forums , espescially institutions like SFI are not in the SBG spirit.... To be totally honest, I'm just a lurker at SFI... I go there to soak up the knowledge, not to post or interact so much. I've asked a question or two, and seen some newcomers not treated very well - but I've also seen newcomers given much respect and guidance as they learn. SFI is just people, you know, like us.

I've always been treated very respectfully on SFI. But then most of the folks who respond to anything I post there also happen to be recognizeable as members here too. What a concept... They are us!

How hot is it getting over there, Paul? Officially I believe we call it 'bloody hot'. Technically, now 7 days in a row over 104 Fahrenheit, with the hottest day at 118... Take a step outside and get burned to a crisp weather..! Dang... I guess that's why they closed the roof last week at the Australian Open in Melbourne (for any tennis fans who happened to be watching). Here we're lucky if it gets to 20 degres F.
