I haven't got a clue what to look for. I want something fast, one handed preferably, and I really like the fancy shmancy Scabbards on the VA signature models.
I'd love some suggestions.

Fast and one-handed? I've always been a fan of a well-made rapier. I had a *good* one from Museum Replicas about fifteen years ago. The next-best thing seems to be this one-- I can't find the one I ordered, so: www.museumreplicas.com/p-250-deschaux-rapier.aspx The one I have like this was made by Windlass, and it stood up to a lot of abuse during stage fights. For about $300, it seems reasonable . . . But then, here's the big question: How much are you willing to spend? --Edward

Unfortunately, it's overweight and poorly balanced...and is far FAR from what one would consider fast and agile. Even if it was made properly, the style of sword isn't what ken wants anyways. For the around 300 bucks, I would wait for the VA bristol to come out. Or you can get the windlass type XIV that everyone seems to love for a pretty good chunk less then 300.

Man... quite a request ! ( I've just got trough the same problem with eastern weaponry... ) You've been around quite a bit , i'm sure you can give us some info regarding : How much are you willing to pay ? Why one-handed ? Any style inspire you ? I mean euro swords covers many different models and many different styles over 10 countries which evolved over at least 8 centuries... useless info you probably know ;p For a one handed around 300$ with a scabbard sure the bristol comes in mind ( lets wait for a review shall we ? The castile doesnt seem to be as impressive as we all thought it would be( Am i wrong ? )) but they are so many options that to guide you toward one would need a little more info on what you are looking for

You may want to get one of those VA practical arming swords from the SBG store when the new shipment comes in. $215? A bloody steal if you ask me

He did say he liked the look of the nice ones on the new VA signature line. My vote is for the Bristol as well, as I will certainly be trying to scoop up one of those. As an alternative... you can always find a sword you like... and Have Brian K. do your scabbard for you. His work is nothing short of stunning, and I WILL have more of it down the road. ;D

I like the VA signature line, but the blades not so much, I prefer a wide base that tapers to a very sharp point. But I only like the style of the knight type of sword.

Enkidu, I agree with you - wide at the base, sharp point, fast, that sounds like a type XIV to me.

Yep Ancalagon, that was what i've seen in his description, but then again we could be both wrong depending on what Ken has in mind. So Ken, did you saw something from the numerous posts that got your interest ?
