Lately I have developed this fondness for designing blades. I used to try it with Katana and was never satisfied, but now with Viking swords I've re-kindled it. So, after designing my own and commissioning it, I made more designs. These designs are kind of to show off and get opinions, because in truth, they really aren't much more than simply drawings. But also, if by some off chance that anyone likes them and wants to commission their smith to make it, just let me know. I'm not going to charge, of course. I'd just like to know. You know...ego boosting. I am also working on a leaf blade design. Shall I go ahead and post when I'm done? Thanks all! Aaron

Yeah, post the leaf bladed one! These look pretty cool, it's just hard to get an idea from a drawing. At least for me.

Alright! Leaf Blade!
Be warned, this could change. It's a very rough version as I had a VERY hard time getting any effective leaf blade. The biggest feature of the sword, I think, it the separate fullers, intended for added strength in the narrowest area of the blade. Opinions more than welcome!
I will admit, the blade looks a little short...or the handle looks huge. Either way, the intended dimensions are:
Length: 37" Blade Length: 30" Weight: 2lb 8 oz

I was about to say D'omari is my favorite, but then I spotted Vedr. Oh... My... God.. That is one nice design! I love them all!

I'll have a Bjorn thanks! +1 We have similar taste my friend, must be why I like your work. Crockett: I love your idea for that leafblade... and the dual fullers. I see them as tapering with the edge. Picture the bottom fuller wider at the mouth of the cross... and tapering to a point as the blade narrows. Then the top fuller starting at a point and getting widder, following the width of the flare of the leaf blade at that point, again tapering to a point as the flare closes back. I think that would look AWESOME and follow with your idea of reducing weight in the wide parts of the blade and maintianing strength in the more narrow parts. Love the idea... I think I'll go draw it in a few minutes, keep it fresh in my mind.

I was hoping people would like it! I haven't seen it on any leaf blades as of yet, but I have not seen a ton of them either. Glad you enjoy it!
And thanks for the Karma, Brenno!
Brenno, I see you're from Fable Blades. If you ever need a design, or if you'd like to make the Bjorn, you're more than welcome. I just would like to be acknowledged as the designer.
I'm normally not so picky about it, but as I've told Shadowhowler, I am not the most artistic person. So I'm really rather proud of these designs and would like to continue as a blade designer.

Our man Brenno has no shortage of designs and insperation... what he needs are customers! I would say the flip side... if you need someone to turn your Bjorn design (which I really like) into sharp, metal reality... Brenno would be a GREAT choice. ;D

Actually, Shadow, I created these designs for others besides myself. I already have my own design being made by Chris Fields. I already posted it in the Review section for future review.
That model is called "Ulfer" and means Wolf. The most prominent feature is the pommel, guard, and scabbard, while the blade is my own design, it is nothing absolutely original.
I'll just link it here. Ulfer started everything, and was a sword on paper before I ever did anything on photoshop. After a few revamps, it became what you see. I'm not sure when the sword is to be finished, but it is destined to be a great sword - with a talented sword maker in Chis Fields - and with an engineered gemoetry made for devoted cutting. I can't wait to get a vid of her up on here!

I have a strong affinity for wolves... as my handle might suggest. I look forward to see it when you finaly have it realized in steel.

Not only am I 'from' Fable Blades, I 'am' Fable Blades. No one else here, til Slayer shows up ;D I was 'this' close to putting a second set of fullers toward the tip of my Ring of Fire sword. So yeah, missed out there. Keep posting your designs, you may like to start your own thread in the design forums, but not everyone looks there. I'll keep an eye out, and if I do use one, I'll acknowledge you, and probably get you to name it and write a story for it. Cheers

Let me make this VERY clear. This is, in no way, an official SBG design. I am not a part of the SBG team, nor have I been asked to do any of this.
However, I figured, as I was looking over the designs, trying to think of another one, that SBG deserves to have it's own Viking. So, I took the Bjorn design (my second favorite to Ùlfer) and added to it.
And this is what you get.
Total Length: 37" Blade: 30" Blade Width: 2" at base Weight: 2.4 lb.
The Blade is etched with my own spin of the SBG title, and the scabbard has a medallion of the title on the second iron plate.

Holy Crap! This has to be done! Brenno?! Or Matthew?! Damn! Since I may be getting money, would it be cool with you if I got this under commission? That is like the ultimate viking sword!
+1 Karma, I really like your designs.

Wow, that was fast...and very encouraging! Thanks a lot guys! I really do hope Paul can take a look at this...but I don't want to act all arrogant and ask his opinion. We'll just wait and see.
