I just ordered mine from True swords. After reading the description and placing the order i decided to look at other swords sites just for the heck of it. What I finally noticed is that The replica i bought from true swords is stated to be made from high carbon steel and is fully sharpened. The description i have read from other sites states that thiers is made of stainless steel. True swords also shows thiers wrapped in black leather(or faux leather...not sure) just like the movie and the others show brown wrappings. So my question is this........I feel that i did order the superior version of this sword......but is it really made of carbon steel and fully sharpened?? Or could it quite possibly be a slight mistake on the description? Just wondering.

The first carbon steel sword i got was this one. So it is carbon steel alright. It was sharpened but not very well ( thats material for an accusharp ). The leather is cheap leatherette that easily unwrap itself from the handle, it can be fixed using some glue to hold it down. The blade has some scratches when i got it, the runic patterns are on one side only and it had a burnt mark on the plain side. It is certainly very badly balanced, the pommel is plastic and doesnt make the counterweight needed for that thick heavy blade. BUT, the design is original, the engravings are very well made, the scabbard looks nice, it came in with a display stand ( with an ugly sticker that easily can be removed ) , the whole thing is rock solid and can take abuse but since it has no guard and it is so poorly balanced i leave it as a wall hanger, way less dangerous that way.

No problem, yes it will, be sure to shine it up a bit since the finish is a bit rough and if you can replace that awful leatherette wrap and you'll have exactely what you want ! You know, if they had done it a bit thinner, longer with metallic pommel and a real leather wrap this thing could have been pretty decent.

Got mine for $10 at a flea market stand.
You're right about the cheesy leatherette wrapping: I repaired mine with superglue.
Thing weighs close to 4 pounds and has zilch balance.
No wooden stand nor sheath with mine. Those were the Version One models; I got the Version Two.
Also picked up a Bleach Bankai model for $15 (it's $80 plus shipping from places like True Swords). The guy said he was selling his nephew's collection ...

Well....it came today. Not bad. The sheath fits a little too snug for my liking. I cleaned it as soon as i took it out of the box as i always do and got a crapload of black grime on my cloth. All in all...im pleased with it. Makes a good wall hanger.

I like the look of the blade. I wouldn't mind using it as a project blade if the handle is crap.

Any more opinions on this sword? I have been looking at it for several months now, and can't decide if it is worth it.

Hmm... Has anyone ever disassembled the handle? I would like to see the tang. Maybe one of you should redo the handle with a propper metal pommel, add a small handguard to protect your hand, and have a functional Ultraviolet...?

Is it me or does this sword look most like a thin, flat crowbar?

That's a lot of engraving on the one side lol. Is it laser etched? Otherwise that would probably take awhile...
It reminds me of the sword that Cloud uses in FFVII during the bike chase...

Hey, if you like it- it was a good purchase. I wonder if its tempered properly; anyone know?
I figured this sword was as it was because of Violet's vampiric strength...she didn't need a superbly balanced katana, she was way stronger than that. An interesting take on the aikuchi'd katana.

Its fun to look at for a normal peron, but you could never fight with it. A vampire would have no problem with this sword.

Its fun to look at ... but you could never fight with it. I got one of these last Christmas and this about sums it up. I cut a few plastic bottles but didn't dare swing it around due to the plastic handle. It feels solid enough but it's so light I didn't want to push it.
