I've been planning on eventually ordering a sub $300 Katana from Ronin Swords.
Now while the specific blade is also an issue, I am first asking about the tsuka maki.
So the fittings schemes I've thought of are
Ivory Ito, Black Same, Gold Menuki, either on the Musashi Iaito or Heianjo. I dislike the Hana Kage's fittings, so I'm inquiring of the price for the Hana Kage Blade or Iaito on the Musashi or Heianjo Fittings.
Nando blue Ito, Black Same, Gold or silver menuki, the rest is the same
Now, I know that Ivory Ito will wear quicker and discolor more rapidly, so don't list that as a reason to go against Ivory. Instead, I would like to know if there are any ways to maintain the whiteness if you think it would look better.
But all in all, I really can't decide. I have sent Mr. Dreier a PM and Email a while ago and am currently awaiting his reply on the customization costs of using different fittings on different blades. But again, I don't plan on buying anything too soon, so I can wait a long time for his reply.

I'd go with Pearl. But thats just because I think it'll look nicer.

I'm partial to brown on black w/ accents. However, your blue on black is intriguing. (Not sure what "nando" blue is.) This aoi budogu jidai koshirae (iaito) is gorgeous, but I might be a little self conscious showing up with something other than black-on-white.

The most attractive option is your choice, not ours. That said, my Rawblade will be mounted with black leather in hineri maki over black same, and once I get my Seki polished up and have it mounted, it'll be tetsu green jabara maki on black. Perhaps. Menuki probably silver on the Raw, and gold on the Seki. Black iron fittings on each everywhere else...maybe some gold accents on the Seki. At any rate, again, the best looking is whatever you think it is, not whatever we think it is. As to any shade of white...well, my Musashi Zetsurin was white. I emphasize was. Now it's a sort of yellowish brown, with white accents. I should clean it or change it... That kiwi stuff, is that for cotton/silk, or just leather? It does say fabric...but I don't know if I'd trust it on silk, especially. I imagine it's mostly bleach or white paint, anyway. If you want a white ito to stay white...as said already, don't ever touch it. If it not being white doesn't matter to you, don't worry about how to keep it white. ;D

Here's a pic of some Ronin swords stolen from another thread: I love the blue in the middle, anyone know what that colour is called? Blue on black is always a classy choice, add some silver fittings and a silver menuki; result is wonderful. I've had nando blue, teal blue and teal green on black, all looked very nice.

Personally, I like the red on black the most. But like Randomnobody said, only you know what the best color will be.
Ivory looks cool too imho, but unless you only display it I can't think of any way to keep it from becoming discolored...

Strafe, All of the colored ito will show the dirt (even nando blue and red). If you are concerned about messing it up, then don't use it. If you use it, it gets dirty. It looks loved, and not neglected Larry, Cedar Waxwings! I love 'em Yes, that color of doeskin ito on black or pearlized white same would be niiice. Ichiban, IIRC the one in the middle is navy blue, while the fifth one in from the right is nando blue. I would say that the color is off from usual natural lighting color due to the flash. In person I would have to say that nando blue leans to the teal end of blues, while the navy I have seen can look almost black in low light and leans more to the purple end of blues. Here is a shot of the red and black on the Kokoro Ichi I recently got: If you read Ichiban's silk dying thread, you know that the red color is more maroon than blood. I was happy about this, but Ichiban was unsatisfied. He beautifully demonstrated how to change the color to his liking. Judging color from a picture on a monitor is always a bit dodgy. Good Luck, and don't forget to show us the pics when you get it

Yes, it´s to be considered that colors on the monitor often says rather little more than nothing. First there is the camera; different digital cameras renders colors very differently. Then there is the light that effects the colors. And different cameras in different ligtings, it´s not the same as seeing it live. Especially pic´s with flash. As if that is not enough the picture with the colors goes thrue a monitor. Different monitors shows colors very differently. We bought another monitor a while ago, I can´t belive it´s the same pictures as before.
One example is the kokoro ichi above; it does´nt look the same at all as many other pictures of it, not even on the same monitor. So, it´s easy to get the wrong impression of colors just out of one or a few pictures. Something to consider when buying things on internet; many dealers have pictures it is very hard to get a good impression of f.ex the colors on ito imo.
