Was looking at CASHanwei.com and saw some cool new stuff they have coming up. ( www.cashanwei.com/new_products.asp ) A Swallow sword (jian) in both one-handed and two-handed versions. Looks nice. A Yang Saber in both sharp and blunt--I'll be wanting the sharp. A cutlass !!!!!! Unfortunately this one isn't sharp. A Civil war hanger!!! I'll definitely be picking up those last two, having become a cutlass fan a while back. A beautiful tachi that is way out of my price range. They are also now offering replacement sayas.

I have been waiting for awhile to see Hanwei new products, thanks for bringing this up. The sabers (both american and chinese) look great.

Label me a doubting Thomas and a bit dissapointed about the Revolution War era hanger and the VOC cutlass. They look better than the Loyalist Arms 18th cebtury period offerings but not by much. I'd need one in hand or some better pictures regarding the crossectional grinds. Congratulations to them for trying and they don't look truly horrible but they could have paid better attention. at least they won't easily fall into the hands of fakery and fraud. Simply put, there is more than offering a decent profile outline of the originals and they did make some effort to go beyond that but I'm afraid I see they could have done better and at that price I would expect more attention to the truths. They also need to edit their copy regarding how to spell cuttoe (if they are going to include the word, at least use all the letters).
I'm glad they are beefing up the Chinese stuff a bit as previous jian and sabres were not really getting the nod from folk like Scott Rodell as to their sturdiness.
Cheers
Hotspur; sorry to say more of the Windlass stuff are better approximations for the 18th century re-enactors

Given that nobody here in Oz seems to want to handle Windlass products , I'm looking forward to the Cuttoe and VOC Cutlass hitting these shores. The prices will probably be a bit daunting, but I guess that's what we get for living in the antipodes. Thanks for the heads-up Pogo! Cheers Marc E
