I just got an extra sharp version of the base model castile and I think it may need to be sharpened more. I tried cutting a milk jug with it and it was only going half way in or knocking it away. I am new to sharpening swords and I know if I try it myself I will ruin a good sword. Would an accusharp work to sharpen it up enough to cut most common targets? Also there are some weird spots on the blade that look more polished then the rest of the sword, like most of the sword looks like a satin finish while some spots are more of a mirror finish. How would I go about polishing the sword so the rest matches the mirror finish parts? Also is it common for the dye to come off the scabbard and handle? Right now the leather is looking a dull grey instead of black now

As far as the sharpness goes, I would chock it up to bad form rather than sharpness for the moment. Go practice and see if you cant improve on that cut without sharpening the blade. Most everyone wont recommend sharpening with a accusharp.

Yeah.... don't put an acusharp to THAT sword anyway... that sword has good steel and is pricy (for a production sword) so you'll want a good edge on it. Look around, there are some sharpening suggestions and videos to be found. Although be warned... Tom had a HELL of a time sharping his Castile.

Ians sharpening tute ........ quite good and makes sense ........ disassemble the blade so its lighter to work with ....... wear thick garden gloves so dont cut yourself (yeah had a slip and nicked a vein in my palm didnt half bleed) ....... get a good wide sharpening stone and plenty of mineral oil and time, takes a few hours to really work it good and proper, then use finer grade sandpapers to polish and finally get some metal polish on it

I wont try sharpening the blade, I know I will mess up and if it says extra sharp version I shouldnt try doing anything else to it. What about the weird spots and the leather losing its dye though?

I'd say that we'd need pictures for any advice on those issues...
