Congratz Bill. That Gothic longsword has always been attractive to me too. Isn't that the same model sword that Christian Tobler used in his portrait shown opposite The Author page in Fighting With The German Longsword?

Isn't that the same model sword that Christian Tobler used in his portrait shown opposite The Author page in Fighting With The German Longsword? I believe it is. It is also a replica of the sword as seen on the cover and page 126 of "Arms & Armor of the Medieval Knight" Or perhaps the sword itself if that one is not an origional. Very nice sword....whats the length on it? The one in the book looks massivly long!

Readers may enjoy the old articles and a review of the 5155 by Angus Trim in this old ezine. There are three other issues of the old ezine with other goodies. The article about the museum piece is fairly well documented there. Much of Bjorn's articles are also mirrored on his old sword pages. swordforum.com/mar99/IIRC, it is Christian pictured with a 5157, as his wondering about the longer sword came up previous to his buying one. Mine came via a trade and then buying back the sword the fellow traded for. That exchange goes back and forth every year and now he wants the A&A back, which I had initially traded him for the 5157. The 5155 will dance nicely for you Bill. Don't believe the world of it as a cutter (if you sharpen it) but the longer one does ok in that role. My 5157 is a delight at its weight and length class. The 5157 is 51" long with a near 40" blade (39iirc). That means the nifty 5155 will be handier in closer spaces.. Despite a quite thin grip, it is quite tactile and very easy to index when handling. there is no problem knowing which is where in regard to edge/guard alignment. Cheers Hotspur; I would probably trade for the shorter 5155 in a heartbeat
