I bought a Dark-sword Amory/DBK Customs Anduril LOTR Sword. I Bought it from Shadowhowler, who got it from DBK Customs who had put on a Brown Leather Grip. I believe it was also sharpened by DBK Customs. The original grip color from DBK. First day I had it I dyed it Oxblood Red, I think it came out well. I have yet to cut with it, but when I do I will be sure to let every one know how it goes.

She looks good, I miss her already... When you get the scabbard are you going to leave it black or mess with it some?

Not sure, depends how much I like it. I have no idea what it looks like since I couldn't find a picture of it any where. If I think I can do it I might buy some leather and do some oxblood accents. I get the scabbard tomorrow which is awesome... 2 days from Canada.

Ugh... Well, I love DSA and I like their swords... but if you have never seen their scabbards I gotta warn ya... not too impresive. I hear that they are making improvements on them... so hopefully the one you get will be better then the two I have seen. On the one I still have... the scabbard was ill-fitting to say the least... so I had to shim it to make it so the blade would not rattle around and fall out if tiped upside down. I cut a couple peices of leather 'string' and superglued them to the sides of the scabard going about 2 inchs down. This way they would press against the unsharpened base of the blade and hold in in place, a MUCH better fit now. I'm crossing my fingers for ya on the quality of your scabbard.

You can always just modify the wood core, which I assume is that hardest part about making a scabbard... But I may be wrong.

Lame... Yeah, DSA scabbards are certainly NOT their strong-suit. I had heard they were going to be impoved, but from what your describing it looks like that has not happened yet. As for the 'offset'... I have never had a scabbard for the sword. Brian sent one with the sword when I bought it, but when I pulled it out of the box it crumbled into nothing. So I've never had a scabbard to fit the sword into. Although I do have a DSA Gothic Two Handed sword I got from StevenJ in a trade... and the fit of that scabbard was bad also... hence the shimming I described in the post above. I'm not sure how you would go about fixing the offset, except to dissasemble the sword and go from there. However you'll have to be carefull about that, since Brian's custom grip extends over where you'll have to unscrew the pommel... so make sure you can get it back on.

^yeah, I made a topic about how I could go about fixing it. It has no affect on how the sword works, just on how it looks. As far as the scabbard goes I may try and find a way to use it as a core if I can find a good deal on leather and cover it some how. I have a huge amount of dye left, basically took nothing to cover the grip out the the 4oz bottle.

You might be better off doing something like what Brian does on some of his scabbards. Cut three strips of leather to fit around the scabbard at the top, middle, and end. Dye them the oxblood and wrap em around the scabbard at those points. Maybe add some ornimentation or jewlery to enhance it. Something like this: www.dbkcustomswords.com/images/IrishKing800x600.jpg

Thanks for the link, I will probably do just that. I had another of Brian's swords that had a scabbard done that way... it used red and yellow in the presentation, my two least favorite colors. Dispite that, I found the look very classy and I liked it quite a bit. Thats saying something since I REALLY hate red and yellow.

I cut with it last night on a wim, in the dark and in the cold. I cut one Gallon Milk Jug and it did a decent job. The jug cut pretty easily, a but of tearing on each cut I will chock it up to bad form for now.
