So when I bought my first sword I swore that it would be a one off purchase, but............I want to by a second sword. For my second sword I’m looking for a single handed European medieval sword, preferably something that is a good cutter, I was thinking of an Oakeshott Type X. I’m probably looking to spend between 300$-400$ does anyone have any suggestions?
I quite like the look of the VA castile, but have a few questions. I have heard that earlier models were not very sharp has this problem been solved?
Is the only difference between the base model and the signature model the scabbard and leather grip i.e. the blade/guard and pommel are identical?

The Castile now has an option of being standard sharp or extra sharp. So you know get the choice of how sharp you want your blade. As far as the differences in the Signature and the Base model is... With the Signature you get a better quality leather, a more detailed belt, and the detailed scabbard. However, you do get the same blade pommel and guard. Hope this helps you out.

if you go Castile and plan to cut with it get it extra sharp because the extra sharp is sharp while the regular sharp is not. also if you want the castile be prepared fo a heavy blade. don't get me wrong it's a good sword, I just don't prefer them that heavy. if you like heavy cutters this is good, but if ou want something more agile look elsewhere. if you can swing a little more cash you could get an Atrim and pretty much any Atrim would be a good cutter from what I hear. I can personally reccomend the V.A. Practicals just try to get one out of the new batch due out next month (I think) as they are supposed to be similar to the custom tuned versions. I love my custom tuned
