have known John Lundemo for several years now. In the past, the swords I have ordered from him have been ones that I have been pretty specific about. During one conversation some time ago, I promised John that one day I would order a sword from him and let him have 100% design control over it. Well, this is that sword. I didnt even specify what TYPE of sword i wanted, I just left it all up to him and trusted he would do his magic.... well... he did. The result is what I lovingly call the "Green Dragon" because well... its green.... and has a dragon on it.... didnt take too long to come up with that name :-) The handle and scabbard were made from one peice of wood so all the grains match perfectly. The blade is etched on both sides with an INCREDIBLE dragon design and the blade actually has hamon! but due to my requests for a tough cutter, John heat treated it differently than a Japanese type blade. I will let the pictures tell the rest.

Green wood? I have never seen that before. Another stunning blade mate. Not jealous here but appreciative of the fact that you are posting better pics for us and amazing work once again by Mr Lundemo. The dragon is exquisite, laser etching I'm guessing?

Exquisite work ... I mean it's awesome in all senses... i can't imagine how must be cut something with it, the long grip must give an extrahold in the cuts, could you tell us .. how much it cost ??.. again congrats for this piece of art .. by the way .. the green is my favorite color ..

The dragon is exquisite, laser etching I'm guessing? Nope, John doesnt take shortcuts like laser or machine engraving... This is acid etched and the art is all hand drawn by John. Another way that he is a TRUE artist..... as for the price, as i mentioned in the Stokes thread, i prefer not to discuss prices, if you would like a similar peice, i would suggest contact Mr Lundemo.

That is one lovely sword! I'm sure I'll never own one as beautiful! Congratulations and thank you for showing it to us.
Do you happen to know what timber he used on the scabbard and grip? I love the figure in it, and the green stain really works well. Not something I'd have ever thought of doing... Wow!
Thanks again!
Marc

You know, I'm not sure how "historical" this sword is (and I'm speaking out of ignorance here, not as criticism!) but it is *gorgeous*

HOLY MOLY! David, I thought you were crazy to cancel the green handled ATrim longsaber (it's mine now ) but now I see why. This is a stunning and unique take on the two-handed longsaber. And it's gorgeous!

Not jealous here but appreciative of the fact that you are posting better pics for us and amazing work once again by Mr Lundemo. The dragon is exquisite, laser etching I'm guessing? Thanks so much for all the very nice comments. Couple of leaf blade fans here, much appreciated:) The blade steel for Viper was 7 bar turkish twist as was all fittings. To remake something like that would be very high price tag.. Hand carving the snakes from solid turkish twist damascus, which was W2 and 203E was Very hard. That sword is going to go up for sale soon as the man I made it for has passed away. The Wolf has 512 layer random damascus and several etchings not to mention all the hand carved fittings. The etchings I do are done with a photochemically reactive resist I apply to the steel or other metal and a film positive of any artwork is adheard to that and then exposed. Then it is developed and taped and touched up. Once that is all done the exposed art is raw metal and everything elses is protected. I then soak in ferric chloride solution. It is striped off with solvent and ready for more polish. There is alot of technique involved and must be taught as there are a million things that can go wrong. Not really something I can explain in great detail on a foum. But let me know if there are any questions and I will try to answer, plus my phone is always at anyones disposal. The green wood was dyed curly maple.
