Hello!! Searching new swords, look what I found in strongblade, a similar sword like the Windlass XV century longsword, a few dollars cheaper, but don't know nothing about the manufacturer and I don't really think this one be Windlass, but maybe am wrong. Anyone knows something about this one?, could be used for fencing forms and swings? opinions are wellcome! The link : www.strongblade.com/prod/sba-ringhiltbastard.html

Hi Tech yes it looks closer but here are the details: Windlass : 45" StrongBlade: 47", W: the wire wrapped hilt seems slim than the SB, the scabbard of the SB ends in ball tip while the Windlass scabbard don't. So I believe the temper of the blade can b different ...well not sooo different.. but maybe a little .. I 've read strongblade sells good quality goods that's not a problem we trust in comments of other forumites .. Yeap!

Hello Mordrent,
There seems to be a difference in the pommel (is it smaller or maybe the circumference of the grip is bigger than the Windlass?)...it is nice thought...but, one thing, I would check if it is tempered as it doesn't say so nowhere on their page and they usually mention it...

It looks very similar to the windlass but it's not. Ricasso is longer, grip is wider, wire wrap is narrower wire. Most importantly, it's neither hardened nor tempered. It would be nice for display but not for cutting or swordplay.

If you want a cutter, wait for SB to release a tempered version. If they do, the price should be about the same as the Windlass version at Kult of Athena; however, based upon my handling of the Deathbringer and comments made by others regarding SB's blades, the blade on the SB version (in tempered form) will likely be more rigid than the Windlass model, making it better suited to thrusting. We won't know for sure, of course, until someone gets one in their hands, but that would be my guess.

Well, looks like I have a lot to learn. I definatly missed the ball tip on the scabbard.
