I recently bought a Valient Armory Black Prince and was disappointed when the sword was 4.5 pounds. So I decided to send it back to KOA so I can use the money to buy something lighter. Need some advice from the community so I can make a better choice for my first real sword.
My budget is $200. I am looking for a medieval 1 hander or bastard with a 30-35 inch blade. Wheel pommel is fine but I want something that isnt really bulky. I prefer guards that are very basic and not overly fancy. Weight cant be too heavy, maybe 2-3 pounds would be fine. I dont really like swords made for stabbing, I prefer a good cutter that is nimble. I am going to use it for some light cutting, pool noodles, water bottles, and milk jugs. If I can get some maybe a few tatami mats.

Yeah, I'd go with Windlass, too, if you're only looking to spend 200. I'd try to get a sword with a blade closer to 30 inches. Past that and Windlass is known to produce rather whippy blades. My brother's Swedish Viking sword is only 32.5" and it's very whippy, whereas my Fantasy Viking is 30.5 and is not very whippy at all.

Hello Damondred Check the Windlass Oakeshott Type XIIA Sword , it's 2 lb 14 oz with 45" total lenght, seems light and strong. Looks like a bastard sword but lighter, also you can look at the Long sword or the XV century long sword, both are in the price budget you look at. In review section both swords were reviewed and seems very well, and with the Valiant swords old line I've read there's always the same; the weight. Also there's a review here of the Oakeshott XIIA : kultofathena.com/500998-review.htmHope this help!

If it's not too late... the hangwei hand and a half (the Albrecht II sword) is a pretty good sword, and it's only slightly above your budget, if you can be a bit flexible.
