I have a question, though: If people are camping, will there be showers available? There are several beaches close by.

There are several beaches close by. Beaches with public showers? Or are we talking a fresh water lake? Because --at the risk of sounding like a whimp-- Salt water makes for a very itchy experience when it dries on your skin, and as for fresh water, believe me when I say you do *not* want to bathe in any of the "fresh water" lakes or streams in the parks around Silicon Valley here in California (that whole mercury poisoning thing is a big downer), hence my concern. --Edward

It's all fresh water. Not like you describe around Silicon Valley. This year's Moyoushi is being held near Parry Sound Ontario. Parry Sound is a small town nestled in Georgian Bay on Lake Huron. This lake has quite clean water with lots of beaches.

My well is shallow and we have a home water shortage every summer. My family and I swim at these beaches almost every day all summer, as do thousands of other residents and visitors. However, there are public showers at the town dock in Parry Sound ( about a 5 minute drive) and when I hold my large charity events here each year, some campers prefer to freshen up there.
