Hi; I would like to add a Schiavona to my collection. However I am having a hard time finding one that I really like. I am basically looking for one that is an authentic reproduction or as close as I can get. I would also like it to be “battle ready” and under $500. I thought about a Del Tin 5173 model. www.deltin.net/5173.htm However my understanding is that Del Tin has discontinued the model and I have not been able to find any site that has any for sale. I had also considered the model from Windlass; however I have never had good luck with Windlass. The last two swords I purchased from Windlass were loose fitting and the blades did not seem to be very high grade. Also their model has a “gold fish head” which seems to be not very authentic. I did find this model Schiavona- Order Code 17C10 www.armourclass.com/Data/Pages/17Century_Main2.htm#17c10 However I have never ordered from Armourclass and have not had any luck finding reviews or information on the company, site or sword. Has anyone purchased this sword or has anyone deal with Armourclass? Any insight, suggestions or advice would be great. Thanks!

Armour Class of Scotland...?...nothing but praise from me. I have a mortuary hilt from them and it is the prize of my collection. They have a bit of a wait time, but it is surely worth it. My mortuary hilt handles like no other sword I have..just a pure joy. I like to watch the reaction on people's face when I hand it to them for the first time.....it's always...."Wow". here's the review I did for it over on myArmoury www.myarmoury.com/review_ac_mort.htmlI also have one of the old type 2 Schiavona's from Windlass not a bad sword, but nothing to write home about. I have antiqued the hilt and blade just for kicks. I did a review for it here some time back. As far as the brass cats head pommel..that is historically accurate. I've seen quite a few originals over the years with a brass cats head. users.skynet.be/euro-swords/schiavona.htmthis is just one article on schiavona's. Often called the most beautiful of basket-hilts. Cheers, Bill Back to Armour Class..they were great to work with and I highly recommend them, they just don't get alot of exposure here in the states.

This is Excellent news. I did not realize that many of the original swords come with a brass cats head pommel. Thank you for pointing that out. Also thank you for the review of Armour Class. That is the first review that I have been able to find. They are not well known in the States.
