Hello I am looking to buy my first ever katana, my budget is around 400 before shipping. I am mainly looking for something to do some backyard cutting and messing around, no crazy abuse, but I do not want to have to worry about sharpening often or having to do repairs if I dont have to. I would say for importance, in order of most to least it would be: blade quality > fit and finish > fitting quality. I have narrowed it down to either a cloudhammer sx105v (( rva-katana.com/products/katana-circling-dragons-budget-sx105v?_pos=31&_sid=ba15f1956&_ss=r )) which can be had for around 375 pre tax and shipping. Or a dragon king autumn leaf (( rva-katana.com/products/katana-dragon-king-autumn-leaf?_pos=7&_sid=4af105029&_ss=r )) for 375 as well. I enjoy the look of both of these swords, albeit the cloudhammer is quite out there. I know they are both highly recommended brands I just cannot find enough resources to tell which would be better for my purposes. I would love some advice and I am just looking for whichever brand you guys think takes more care into the craftsmanship of their swords and produces higher quality products. Thanks for the adivce. ps I am open to new sword recommendations if you believe they are better suited to my guidelines.

Welcome to the forum
I can’t help with choosing a good katana since I have very little experience with them generally and have never handled the ones you are considering.
I hope you get one that you end up liking

I think the sx105v is what you're looking for. 5160 is a good steel, but it doesn't hold an edge as well (but close). I don't think there is anything else between the two blades that is worthy of note.
