The $89 pricetag leads me to believe it's an untempered model. If they decide to offer a tempered version, I'd expect a rough price of around $149.

^ What he said. Also, on Strongblades site, they have a section on each sword, if there is a tempered version, that spicificly SAYS so and the price is is given next to it for that version. This one dose not have that. The sword looks similar to me to a Windlass Sword of Auray... so you might wanna check that out.

Ugh, semprini Strongblade. Everytime someone mentions that company, I spend a week pining over the sword from Stardust...
I must have it...

^Yup^ It just looks fugly to me... and I'm not a Historical Sword purist, I LOVE fantasy blades. Some of Brenno and Matt's stuff really REALLY looks awesome to me. I remember awile back when I was working at an Auto Mall... Mitsubishi produced some odd colors for the Eclipse... they looked like rolling easter eggs... pastel colors, blue, yellow... AWEFULL. People bought em however. It was then I truly understood one mans 'Yuk!' is another mans 'Wow!'

I actually spoke with someone at strongblade, and they said : "We do not have immediate plans for a Tempered Gensteel Sword." Darn. It's the exact sword type I was looking for too.

Wow. I actually have read the review of the sword of auray (and just about every other review in existence), but it was long enough ago that I wasn't interested in this type of blade geometry. Funny how things change, then again, a few years ago I thought any sword under six feet long and a foot wide was for wimps back in my FF7 days.
Anywho, I was attracted to the low price point. Even if Strongblade did offer a tempered version it'd only be about $140-ish. Granted, the windlass one IS peened (which is much to my liking) and would be worth the extra cash (even though once again, thanks to windlass, this sword is out of production and no longer available for KOA's wonderful $150-ish pricetag.) The closest I got is $175 at swords of honor, which is still good. But... at this point I'd rather stick with my current plans of getting windlass' American revolution sword for $120, and be able to do a review since the Auray already has a review.
I'm kinda shooting for a low price point, I've stated boldly many times of serious intent to do a sword review and never delivered on the goods. And while I never PROMISED to do a review or anything, I still feel like I've kinda cheated people who may have expected me to do a review. So, unless someone beats me to it (or doesn't do cutting/thorough testing of the AR) I'd like to actually live up to my word for once.

look out for Serge, he seem determined to put up a great review on every sword anyone could ever want. I know man... gezzz. I'm so jealous of his disposable income. I *WISH* I could just buy up everything I find interesting, test it, and post a review of it here for all to see. Serge is my hero.

I dunno, I'm kinda hoping the AR flies under the radar. I mentioned it in a saberite forum and there was surprisingly low interest, so maybe I'll get lucky and no one will notice...
Or maybe someone thinking of doing a review will read this and let me do it. But, I think even if someone beats me to it I'll do a second/follow-up review anyway.
Anyone who's seen Joe Versus the Volcano knows the value of a second opinion.
Oh, and sorry for hijacking the thread, but unless Strongblade miraculously decides to temper this sword, I don't what's left for us to say about it, other than how much we love the design.
Edit;Never mind. In my tri-daily KOA check-up, an alternative has presented itself. So by all means, AR review away.
