I got a call this morning from my friendly lady at UPS saying I had a package to pick up. I didn't know of anything being shipped to me, but stopped to check this afternoon. LOW AND BEHOLD! After only ordering this when the sale was announced about 3 weeks ago and expecting 12 weeks for delivery... A new Reeve from the Albion 25% off sale! I am pretty excited about this sword. It's the first sword I have ever ordered from Albion. I have a few older Albion swords that were bought 2nd hand at drastic discounts. But the sale put new swords down at, and in some cases cheaper than they are on the classified ads. I will be doing a review of this beauty in the near future. But I had to share with the board now, as I am very excited about this one. This is a self-portrait: ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

That's great, Mike! Awesome turn around time, too...Question, how do those brazil nut pommels stack up against, say, a viking pommel in feel? I'm used to unobtrusive pommels that allow me to use a hammer grip really well, but I pick up my brothers viking sword and it's just ridiculously uncomfortable for me, even in a handshake grip.
So I've been ignoring swords with brazil nut pommels for fear that it would be just as uncomfortable. What's your opinion on them?

Has the thought ever crossed your mind that maybe you own too many swords? Ha Ha. I often look at your wall. Thanks for the entertainment.

Thanks guys. I am very happy. ;D The brazilnut pommels take a little getting used to. You can only comfortably use them if you let the pommel slip inside your wrist in the cut. But that's how I use all swords, so they work well for me. In fact, I find brazilnut pommels to be one of the most secure-feeling pommel types available. And I don't find them nearly as uncomfortable as some Viking pommels. Mythos...uh...yeah, ever once in a while. But then I think about all the money I don't waste playing golf.

Soooo hot... want to touch the hilt. ;D I really wanted to take advantage of the 25% off... it was a crazy discount. Sadly, even with the insane price-cut (pun intended) they were still outside my pricerange. Sucks being poor.

They are outside my price range but i just ordered my third (Duke, knightly, and now a Crecy) They are amazing with how much they are willing to work with you. they have worked with me on deposit amounts, payments, and completion dates. It has to be one of the most friendly companies i have ever dealt with on the net.

It has to be one of the most friendly companies i have ever dealt with on the net. I'm sure they are very friendly and easy to work with... I have heard story after story to that fact. The swords themselves are also quite amazing. However, payment plan or no payment plan, I can't justify that level of cash for 'want' item rather then a 'need' item. I'm very careful with my budget... and I live slightly above the poverty line but well below the middle class. However, carefull control of my spending alows me to never be late on a payment, never have an unpaid debt, and keep a 780+ credit score... something friends I know who have 3-4 times the income I do can't seem to manage. Put another way... I play poker, have for over 15 years. In poker... if your smart... you set up a budget and a bankroll and you DO NOT work outside that budget, or you end up broke. You only play in games where the buy-in (what you stand to lose) is only a small peice of your total bankroll, what you are willing to play with. That way no ONE game or one bad card, or even one streak of bad luck, can really break you. Playing this way... you won't get rich quik, you won't make a huge score... because you gotta risk a lot to be rewarded a lot. However... if your smart, carefull... and good... over time you can make money at it. Grinding it out as they say. At any rate... I use that principle in ALL of my life's dealings with money... and thus, based on my current income, I can not aford to spend more then 150-200 on a sword, no matter how much I want to. Hopefully, the future will see my income incress... and THEN such weapons will become avalible to me. ;D

Hehe, well I make a decent amount of money...but I do have a owe a ton of money on my credit cards...but they are sitting at 4% intrest. Since I rolled my auto payments amongst other bad dept into the lower interest bracket, I'm not upset about it other then one of my credit card is pretty much out of commision for use for a while. I have owed money since I was 18 years old so for me, the idea of being in dept isn't a new thing and it's just something I am use to. The trick is to only get in so far so that you can pay it off in a year for anything non-major (going longer for car or house or school loans is kinda required after all ).

I *HATE* dept. Even 4% interest is them making money off me. I have and used credit cards, but I pay em off every month so I never pay intrest. The only reason I have them at all is to create my credit rating. The only thing I have ever paid intrest on is cars. I used to buy and sell cars as a side job... I sometimes had 3-4 cars at once, no way I could aford them outright. I was REALLY tempted to go outside my normal carefull spending practices by the Albion 25% sale tho... VERY tempted indeed... cuz it was such a good deal, and I would like to own at least one sword of that quality.

Shadowhowler your 8 points better then me on credit score you lucky dog (771 for me) I just thought you were perhaps one of the people who I see are afraid of a single big purchase price. I see a lot of people that avoid Albions because they don't want to lay a single big chunk of cash out, but then buy lots of 2-$300 swords. I only own three swords right now (Albion Duke, Albion knightly and Cheness Kaze which was my first sword) In order to order the kokoro ichi I had to sell a tenchi I had. I just prefer having few swords but very good swords as opposed to huge hord of cheaper swords. I buy Albion during their sales and Mike usual can put me on a plan I can afford so I can take a little longer to pay then there usual set up. I don't mind the wait, paying little sums each month so that I can afford one really nice sword maybe once or twice a year. (been collecting like a year and a half now)

A fuller that goes almost to the tip, that must be one stiff blade! OC, actually the long fuller allows the blade to be more flexible. It's a reinforced flattened diamond cross section that really makes a blade stiff. I would describe this one as having quite a bit of flex from about the center of the blade to the tip, as it's gets very thin near the tip. I'm guessing the distal taper on this 30 inch blade is probably something like 75%. It's probably about twice as flexible, or half as stiff, as your Squire Line Knightly.

The sword reminds me of a shorter Gaddjhalt. Which if I remember correctly the pommel felt really good in cutting positions with the hand.

I'm probably only going to pick up two more sword to round out my current collection... and from that point on will focus on specific, high quality weapons when I am able to aford them. As for my credit... yeah, my credit may be good, but I have almost NO money. I'd rather be in your shoes when it comes to money I'll wager.

It has the same blade as the bayeux and the Stamford, so it's sort of a transition sword - definitely cutters, not trusters.
I saw a very small flaw on the tip of one of the quillions, normally that wouldn't bother me, but on an albion... Still, great looking sword over all.

I have no idea what it is a reflection of, but it doesn't actually look like that on the sword. I'm looking at it as I type this and it can't be found. You had me worried there for a minute.
