Hey all. So I'm looking for a light single-hand arming sword to fill a whole in my collection. I'd prefer an Oakeshott type XII, but might consider a Xa, XI, or similar. Definitely something with a relatively narrow fuller. Blade length 30-32 inches and width no more than 1.75 inches at the shoulders. An Atrim would do nicely, but I'm open to whatever as long as it's well executed. Let me know what you've got!
Thanks, Alan

Age of Chivalry has a few ATrim Type 13B’s available. Not quite Type 12, but one of them has longer (double) fullers. He also has an ATtim Type 10 that’s pretty close in appearance to a Type 12 with a 3/4 length narrow fuller.

Thanks for the replies. Stormmaster, unfortunately neither of those interests me, they are too broad. Pellius, yeah I check Age of Chivalry regularly, actually got to handle a type X and XIIIb a few weeks ago when they were at an event here. Neither one was quite what I'm looking for, though.

A Valiant Brighton looks like it could fit the bill as well if anyone has one.

That Sulowski Crusader sword in the Maker's and Manufacturers thread doesn't fit the bill?

The crusader is wider than I'm looking for and outside my budget. It's sold now but I definitely thought about it when I first saw it.

I have an Arms & Armor Grunwald available with scabbard. I have a listing on the FB Real Swords group. Let me know if you are interested.

Is a Regenyei sharp too low tier for you?

Hi Curiomansion. A Regenyei is probably not what I'm looking for, but do you have pics and stats? Definitely worth a look!

regenyei.com/product/arming-sword-2/#bladeI don't own one myself, but I'm close with Purpleheart Armoury who distributes them. I recently got to inspect their sharps, and I believe them to be an underrated brand as far as functional sharps go. I think they fit within your specs as well. I can vouch for their edge geometry and I use their sparring swords, so I know they can make a durable, well balanced sword.

Bump. If you have an Atrim 1315 that might be perfect, assuming the blade width hasn't changed in the past 10 years. There's one up at myArmoury but the seller hasn't responded to messages. :(

For the blade typology you are looking for generally they are going to be wider blades than or around 2 inches in the least. Because they are very cut centric swords with very little tapering to a more defined point. Narrower arming swords are typically of a later period and more thrust centric. Like. At least as a generalization and for most things you'll find in the production market. Maybe an XIX if you want similar profiling but a narrow blade size.

That's somewhat true as a general rule for Xs and XIIs, although there are a number of surviving XIIs that are narrower, but Oakeshott specifically states that XIs have narrow blades and narrow fullers. A look through records and some math calculates several with blade widths of around 1.5 inches. Unfortunately there aren't a whole lot on the production market, and Albion's XI blade is on the wide side for them. Honestly I'd take a XVI, XVIII, or XIX if I like the look.

Yes makes sense, I am by no means an expert on any of what you are mentioning in more detail. I just notice what is on the modern production market right now for those style of blades. Would be cool to see examples of what you are referring now though as it makes me curious to see those designs.

I'm getting a custom made. I believe the maker wants to remain anonymous at the moment, but they are well known. I'll hopefully be able to share more when I get the sword.
