Thank you for posting, and please document the rest of the project -- I know I'd really like to see the outcome. The wood's history for you is a wonderful touch.
Best of luck with the project!

Thank you for posting, and please document the rest of the project -- I know I'd really like to see the outcome. The wood's history for you is a wonderful touch. Best of luck with the project! Thank you. When I get the finished piece up I'll detail the project start to finish. I have pics of all of it. I'll detail out what material I used and why. The foundation is of course the wood I used. That tree deserves some sort of legacy. I'm in the really fun part of the project now. Selecting material and making the kashirae and items to inlay. Not a bunch of stuff. I don't want to get too gaudy. Just a couple smaller attractive items that have history like the wood. I'm not really going for a traditional Japanese sort of presentation. I'm not Japanese and certainly not samurai so the mounts and fittings will have Western tone. This is a gift for my son. Every bit of effort I put into the build is special to me and the material means as much to him as it does to me. I'm wrapping up for the night. Start again at coffee o; clock.
