Hello everybody. I’m new to the forum, very happy and thankful to be let in. I’ve been working on building the koshirae for a handachi and while I have some idea of what to do for my Saya fittings, I’d still like some clarification. I have a semegane and Saya-jiri, so I’m trying to find any information on how to properly mount them onto the Saya. If anyone here can help me with that, or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Thank you all!

The semegane and saya-jiri on a handachi are mounted the same way as a katana. Traditionally, there would be a notch to accommodate them in the wood of the saya, and then they would be held in place with an adhesive based on crushed rice. It's not that easy to make a saya and properly incorporate the semegane and saya-jiri, but I suppose you could try it! Rather than make the rice adhesive yourself, you could also try hide glue. I would stay away from anything too permanent like epoxy, though it would hold it in very well. You'd have to destroy the saya to get them out though.
