Funny they put the horn kurigata but not koiguchi. Nice piece though. You kept the koiguchi pristine which is not easy but nice to see. nice wakizashi rob. You should Keep it.

You should Keep it. sshhhhh dont make him change his mind May have misspoken to the horn kurigata, I’m not confident. To me it looks more bulbous than the typical common wooden kurigata you’ll see on all mass production saya without horn but it could be lighting. It’s really unlikely to have only partial horn and ’m leaning back toward what you’d expect to see (lacquered wood). So Worth the question.. kurigata; lacquered wood or horn? **after closer look, I’m sorry if I mislead anyone. It’s absolutely lacquered wood kurigata. End of story. regardless.. I’ll stand by my encouragement to not let this go. Sorry mr.

They don't make them as thick (or as long/deep) as horn ones, but they still do the job.

I was referring to the kurigata which retains the sageo. And agreed, after a closer look, appears to be the regular wooden kind that is paired with the plastic koiguchi on longquan saya. At first glance I mistook the kurigata for horn which surprised me being as the koiguchi was clearly not . Sorry for the confusion, wasn’t intended to throw anyone off.

This is the Huawei waki. Folded T10/1085....later Huawei simplified and went mono T10 or springsteel. Best blade I have because it actually has some activity in the hamon. Pics per link. Let me get a ruler. Deserves better than the plain jane, budget furniture...alloy tsuba, etc. Slim tsuka....no axe handle for sure. Ok: total length: sword in saya: 32" saya length: 22" sword length: 30.3" blade w/o habaki: 19" habaki: 1" tsuka: 9" blade width at habaki: 1 3/16" blade width mid-blade: 1 3/16" blade width at yokote: 7/8" blade thickness at habaki: 1/4" blade thickness at yokote: 5/16"
