Hi guys I’m looking for a dojo sword have seen Hanwei 1566 but been told most prefer 1060 , also DH or TH & I’m assuming Chinese made clay tempered t10 under $500 NZ dollar, I thought should be a lot more money than that

1566 are similar to 1060 but has added manganese.
Hanwei's cheaper options are made of 1566 (practical series), and their more expensive and bedazzled options are K120c and their own proprietary HWS-1/2. Personally I'm not really impressed with K120c, judged by cutting with one myself and reading the opinion of others. HWS is mostly hyped for their wild hamons, haven't seen any hard testing on it except the commercial Hanwei did themselves.
Their raptor series 5160 are TH and has the reputation of taking all kind of beating (which I can agree with after testing my Shobu on some hard targets).
If you study Iaido/Battodo your dojo probably has specifications on tsuka and blade length. So make sure you talk to your sensei first.
