Hi, I am doing 1260-70 reenactment and now want to buy my first sword for reenactment combat (blunt with 2-2.5mm edge and rounded tip). I would like to have an Oakeshott XII with crossguard type 2 and pommel type J. Originally I set my budget to 500€ for sword+ scabbard, but I am willing to increase the budget to 700€ maximum. Two smiths have now emerged as favorites: 1. Krieger - historical weapons and 2. incarius craft (both from Poland; i'm located in Germany, if that should be relevant). Which of the two would you prefer? What experiences have you had with them? Or are there any alternatives you can recommend me?

I have no experience with Krieger. In'Carius makes very nice stuff, but be aware he's currently only got 2 slots for commissions left, filling all of 2023 and probably 2024. He's also terrible at delivering on time.

Hi, German here as well. Krieger are nice to work with regarding standard models as well as custom work. I've had their Bürger messer and still have a custom F2 falchion (https://imgur.com/gallery/ifDC7jz) from them. That one gained so much notoriety on social media that they now offer it as a production model. Their finish looks hand made without offending modern aesthetic sensibilities. I have a XIIIa from In'carius that I got in a trade. The quality is impeccable and I prefer it to every Albion I've handled. I have three commissions with him at the moment but won't be able to comment on the full process until well into next year.
