Got a huawei that needs a shim, so i shimmed the left side of the koiguchi. Well now whenever I insert the sword into the saya and let it sit, there will be rainbow splotches on the shim side of the sword near the habaki. These will go away with oil, but Im wondering if anyone on here has faced similar issues, and what the solution is. Im guessing it has to do with moisture in the shim, so i sprayed oil on the shim. Letting it absorb the oil, and then Ill sheathe the sword again to see if it fixed it or not.

Pretty sure it was the moisture in the shim causing it. Sprayed 2 coats of oil onto the shim, and it seems good now

Ah, gotcha. Not surprising it was reacting. I'm glad you figured it out.
