I actually just noticed that there is a slight tear in the grip leather on my ix.1106. It doesn’t feel like it wants to move at all, but is this a problem? imgur.com/gallery/jFBrXmbThat should not present a significant problem, though it is slightly irritating from a cosmetic point of view.

I would see if you can get a replacement. That's a bit irritating. I don't think it should affect it's performance, but that should not happen on a sword of this price range.

I got it from Royal Armouries. Techniqually for £210 under the current asking price. I may only send it back if they are willing to do a straight swap. I'm also a little disappointed the stats aren't closer to those stated. I did merely weigh them with kitchen scales & a standard measuring tape but I don't think potential faults in the tools would leave me so far out. Given that these are hand forged, there are bound to be slight differences between each sword. I'm sorry you're disappointed.

Wakefield stats. Mine are listed below the ones taken from the Royal Armouries website. Dimensions Overall: 32" 32" Blade: 27-1/4", single edge 27" Guard: 6-1/16" wide overall 6 " Blade width at ricasso: 1-1/2" 1 7/16 " (1/16 of an inch too short) Blade is distally tapered: 1/4" thick at guard, 1/16" at tip Don't have calipers handy Weight: 1 lb, 15 oz. 1 lb, 10.2 oz Also the guard is misaligned I personally wouldn't consider these measurement out of what you'd expect with handmade items. The guard misaligned is something I might complain about though. I would just inspect the blade and look like if the disparities come from bad grinding or just slight imprecision. Look for bad grind marks and waves. Do you not like the sword in hand?

Since so much emphasis was put on them I guess I would like it closer. Maybe even a bit heavier as I assume through years of slight metal loss & lack of grips the original would of been heavier yet I believe most in this discussion have interestingly been lighter.

I am neither a HEMA practitioner nor a regular cutter & have never handled Lockwood, Gus trims or Albion's etc. It weirdly feels almost flimsy. Almost too delicate if you will. But I believe from Matt's YouTube video so does the original

Comparing actually understanding the physics in context to "alternative reality" and "Flat Earther"-ism. Have you ever met a chance at hyperbole--let alone in its most extreme form--you didn't like... "Enoch"? We could have just disagreed. Or agree to disagree. But who's the one posting two dozens irrelevant posts under a completely legitimate discussion about sword handling again? Funny how often those who state "objective truths," misframe them to suit an agenda, then get that exposed, retreat to "we should agree to disagree," let alone bandy about words like "irrelevant."

Another picture of the guard. At least the grip seems inline. POB 3 10/16 "

Maybe historical accuracy? You mean like... something it takes someone to measure and record... to oversee...? Hey, why should that cost more, right? :)

Lol Yeah, I've spent time looking at a lot of originals. NONE of them would pass modern standards for "fit and finish" until you get to smallswords, which blow modern repros out of the water, but a lot of those had hilts straight up made by jewelers iirc. Some get really close, though. Arms and Armor has a few great videos on the topic.

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

Almost too delicate if you will. But I believe from Matt's YouTube video so does the original If you like it and are happy with it, you're probably golden! Don't let the mismatch of stats bother you. I've seen higher end manufacturers be within those tolerances. There was an A&A for sale on here recently with a slightly off axis guard just the other day. Swing it around and play with it. If it makes you happy, enjoy it! You're in the UK? Are you allowed to sharpen it?

Yeah, try to get a replacement, but if not, just semprini the semprini semprini. I have a KA with more ore less the same problems. 1 week of doubt, then anger, then ... historical accuracy...

I like the swords from this initial line and its cool how they are all based off antiques, but due to them not being my exactly to my taste i don't think ill be getting one being not much of a practitioner
