A California woman’s head was severed by a sword-wielding maniac in broad daylight Thursday as witnesses watched in horror, police said. The horrifying attack occurred in San Carlos, a small town about halfway between San Jose and San Francisco in the state’s wealthy Silicon Valley region. San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies found the victim dead just before noon after they were flagged down by a witness, KNTV reported. Her head had been cut off, according to the report. Witnesses said the weapon, which had not been recovered, was a samurai sword and described a sickening crime scene. “The head was underneath the car and she was laying in the back of the car — just severed,” Chapel Thorborne, a neighbor, told KGO. “After he cut her head off, he came walking up, him and his two friends. And they walked right by me and they arrested him.” The suspect, who appears to have been in a relationship with the victim, fled but was arrested blocks from the scene, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. He was later identified as Jose Landaeta Solano, KNTV reported. www.dailywire.com/news/woman-beheaded-on-california-street-as-witnesses-watch-in-horror?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=benshapiro&fbclid=IwAR1frsP7qUvj-hjGCwZybpzApj0gGmg35TKMNkeRMUL0GKVSDE-JQUZdsjY

I hate these kinds of stories. They are horrible enough on the surface, but they are made worse by people drawing conclusions about the perceived dangers of swords and sword ownership, to say nothing of the political problems these stories often have (present company excluded, of course). In tandem with the stabbing sprees in Saskatchewan and shooting spree in Memphis, this has been a terrible week of violence. The NBC news story has a few more details. It's being reported the victim and suspect were a couple and he had a history of mental illness and violence. Spare a thought for her children. www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/womans-head-severed-sword-san-carlos-source/2998306/

As soon as you let people / gov blame the instrument instead of the person, the slope is both slippery and steep. They're coming for your swords...

did they say what sword he used? All we know at this point is that witnesses said it was a samurai sword. I doubt we will know the mfg / model unless a sword nut gets the info from the trial...

Gruesome. Is it inappropriate to add a 'Highlander' joke? I would say only one "Highlander" joke allowed, because, well..."there can be only one".

The 25-year-old victim has not been identified, but the outlet reported that she had two children, a seven-year-old and a one-year-old, and had a restraining order against Solano. The children were inside the home and did not witness the killing of their mother, authorities said.
Maybe not a highlander joke eh?
