I bought this sword and would love to know the approximate year of manufacture. It was made by WKC of Solingen Germany. Thanks! Will add pictures to thread.

It is a bayonet, WW I or earlier.

A Mauser K-98 dress/parade bayonet. Note no barrel ring or slot in the handle. Typically WWI era.

Thanks very much for your help in identifying it! Appreciate it. Do you have any idea if it is valuable?

does it have a slot in the handle to attach to a rifle? A lot of Mauser bayonets didn't use a barrel ring.

The long ones were artillery types and some of those sawback. The WWII parade bayonets short with plated parts. There are bayonet id sites out there and past sales are a judge of value. Worth at least what you paid?

Worth at least what you paid? Hi, thanks for your replies. It does not have a barrel ring nor a slot. I’ve tried searching the internet for more information and an approximate value but so far have not found this bayonet anywhere. Is there a bayonet website that you know that I could try looking into? I really appreciate the help!

I finally got the bayonet in my hands as I had bought it in an auction but didn’t have it until a few days ago. I am posting more pictures of details asked before. I am interested in purchasing a book which has this bayonet pictured preferably or at least described to document it. Can anyone recommend a book that would have it? Thanks all very much.

The handle has the rifle mount, so it is a standard bayonet, not a dress-only BLO (bayonet-like object). There were several patterns of Mauser 1898 sword bayonets.
What is the blade length and what douse the last 6-8" of the blade look like? There were some early bayonets made for the Mauser G98 by re-fitting earlier pattern sword bayonets.

That third link I posted describes them well and indeed it is a regular service bayonet. Of you search for bayonet guides, you will find books and more information.
