Finished up Customers Khopesh with Egyptian Hieroglyph etchings and Paduk wood grips.
This one really came together Nicely.
Size specs are based on a museum piece as close as I was able to get, and the Hieroglyphs themselves are taken from an actual carved stone wall.

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

What do the heiroglyphs read? Here's a cleaned up photo of the etching, that you can trot over to the experimental Fabricius workbench AI hieroglyphic translation system at Google Arts and Culture, and get to work on it. artsandculture.google.com/story/gwXxcXwClTM8JA Remember that I'm not getting paid for this. IMHO, the OP should have provided a translation or a citation of the wall inscription publication.
Nice sword, BTW.

From what I can get from a casual glance, it appears to be a random pull from an offering formula off a tomb wall. The presence of the well-known conventional character combination for "invocation offerings" at the top of the left side suggests that much. I also seem to see a phase for "he gives a sufficiency of water" somewhat lower. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Egyptian_offering_formulaAmong my other intellectual crimes, I used to study Egyptology a few decades ago, but my skills are somewhat rusty.

99.9% of people couldn't care what it means, it simply looks cool.
There are people out there who get tattoo's inked on their bodies and they have no idea what they mean, especially the ones in hebrew and chinese/japanese calligraphy.
Westerners look stupid with chinese/japanese calligraphy tattoo's but to them they look cool and that's all that matters i suppose.

One of my extra tasks, because I was known to have a knowledge of hieroglyphs, many years ago, was to read the custom gold cartouche pendants that some of our personnel were having made in Egypt. This was to ensure that the pendants only bore their wives' or girlfriends' (usually somewhat misspelled ) names (and in some cases an endearment), rather than something obscene or derogatory...... It's not wise to go walking around decorated with something you cannot read.

I'm thinking of the infamous "Pork Sweet and Sour" tatoos. (in this case: "Hummus Bi Tahina")

I'm thinking of the infamous "Pork Sweet and Sour" tatoos. (in this case: "Hummus Bi Tahina") Now that would be embarrassing...did someone actually have that written on them?I have zero tattoo's but if someone did that to me as a joke..their tattoo parlor wouldn't be standing anymore.

I don't know about that one, but I shot with a couple of models years ago with Chinese characters tattooed on their shoulders. Neither one of them could read Chinese. The one who got "Rose" (her name) tattooed was mostly correct according to one of my Chinese co-workers (minor artistic license, but recognizable as close enough). The other wanted to have "Black Pearl" on her back, but the character for "Pearl" was not even close. To a Chinese reader, it would be "Black Ball".
