Hi SBG!
I am a musician/artist who also has an interest in swords and weaponry in general. My GF and I both have strong Germanic/Scandinavian/Celtic (Danish-heavy) heritage and we enjoy renaissance festivals. I've been collecting weapons from an early age. Over the years, I've owned a couple single-handed blades; scimitar replicas, a flail, some World War Era bayonets, and more recently an OTF Microtech knife!
The reason I've come here is because I am considering spending a bit more for a proper functional longsword, which I've always wanted and never owned. Something I intend to train a bit with - not just collect. I'm very picky, but I mostly know what I'm after. I'm considering finishing a design and commissioning a smith to forge my blade. Not necessarily going for something true to spec within historical tolerances. I want something that resembles a claymore at the hilt, halfwire bastard sword handle, forward and lively balance, wide and fullered blade of ~36", made of modern materials and lathed parts. Medieval-looking but modernized with authenticity. Not sure if that exists already?
Anyway, I am closely considering a DSA claymore and discovered this site through the DSA controversy. Pleased to see the site is even selling their swords now! If I decide to purchase, I will definitely have to post a review.

Welcome to the forum.
I’m not a longsword guy, so I’m not much help with your question. Albion seems to get near-universal praise, though.
Good hunting!
