Hello all , Ive been out of circulation for a while due to ill health but now trying to gain some information and knowledge on a total new subject to me , the Borneo / Dayak style Mandau ( I think I have the name right ) . I mainly have a collection of Nepalese made khukuris and other smaller knives but would very much like to own a Dayak style Mandau (headhunter traditional sword) from the Borneo / Malay peninsula area . Does any member know of any particular sword makers in the region who could make such a sword and export it to the UK ? I am after one made in the traditional style with a bone or horn carved handle and a well forged and heat treated blade . Thanks

Not a lot of modern makers have online storefronts, sadly. Easier, and not much more expensive, to buy an antique.
I'll do some digging when I get home, though.

Had a look at both of them but in my opinion they look like wall hangers . I am going to ask Purna Darnal from Great gurkha Khukuris if he can make a good quality reproduction to my own specifications .

I am going to ask Purna Darnal from Great gurkha Khukuris if he can make a good quality reproduction to my own specifications . That was my fear, as well. Purna could probably do it with enough photos of originals, but I'm not sure where one might find detailed specs he can work to...
