Has anybody ever thought of or has sharpened a practice blade before? I’ve been wanting a pretty decent side sword but the one I want is the renaissance side sword by kingston arms but it hasn’t been out of stock for quite a bit. So I’ve been looking at Castile armory economy side sword and thinking about sharpening and profiling that blade that comes with it. However, I don’t know if I’d just be making a huge mess and I don’t want to destroy the balance of the sword. Also, I don’t think I have enough experience to be exactly comfortable with taking on a project like that😂😂😂 but If anybody has done that before or thinks this is absolutely stupid idea please let me know 😂 thanks

It can be done but there will be a lot of grinding or filing, you'll basically need to regrind the whole blade. Can Castile make a sharp blade for you? That might be easier.

I've done it with a practice rapier. Cut the square end off and made a point and made edges down 1/3 of the blade. It was a lot of work and it's not as hard as a normal sword would be, ideally. But I just remind myself it would have been acceptable during its time lol

If you want the Kingston, get on the waitlist at KoA. They get a new shipment every few months, but they sell out fast. Took me 2 rounds of waitlist (about 4-6 months) to get one earlier this year.
You could also try a "Want to Buy" ad in the classifieds here.
