What do yall do with your early pieces that you dont care about anymore? I have a junker and some impulse buys from a few years ago that are taking up space, but with the cost of shipping being so wacked out right now its kinda not worth the effort of selling them.

You can try selling them on your local Craigslist.

I use them in new projects to try building a different kind of sword. You can usually come up with some wild cross contamination of functions sometimes

I gave some to a neighbour’s kid after clearing it with his father. The boy was delighted. You could also use it for a project or experimentation work.

Dear greatfool,
You can often give old swords to local theater groups. Just be sure to tell them which swords can only be used as costume pieces and which, if any, can be used for stage fights.
Best,
Mark Millman

They have prop-makers and costumers and can make things like scabbards and suspensions if they want them, and in the style that they want. Best, Mark Millman

I have an old/unused/unloved sword recycling business at home. Send any unwanted blades to me and I'll dispose of them in an eco friendly, carbon neutral, and sustainable manner.

I am thinking about recycling the Deepeeka "Turkish Fantasy Sword". Should be a lot of steel there to re-forge into something good. Probably EN9, but might be EN45.

I saw somewhere that some of the ornamental wall hanger low-end Deepeekas used EN9, and the "Turkish Fantasy Sword" sets the bar for low-end.
I may just clip a piece off of the tip and bring it to work to play on the XRF spectrometer. The presence of Si, Cr, Ni, Mn & Mo would support EN45.

I've disassembled the one I have with vague thoughts of trying to regrind a new blade shape. It's sat in my garage for months with no oil and not even being wiped down to clean off skin oils, and has developed no patina or rust at all. Without being any kind of expert on steel, I'm guessing it's some kind of stainless.

The blade on my DTFS has rust spots on it in several places. They may not all be the same (except for equally bad), but I doubt mine is stainless.
Turns out there is a blacksmith / bladesmith a little over a block away from me, so I may be able to recycle it in the next year or so.
