Just spent the last two weeks out of town, some much-needed time away from...everything. Two days in and I was fretting over my swords, especially my most-recent acquisition.
Barely had the energy to check a small, random selection, but am pleased that nobody shows any signs of rusting. Well, the antiques almost all have patina, but no new rust. It has been hot and humid while I was away. I turned off the AC before leaving, but it slipped my mind to pick up some oil to cover everybody before we left. I don't normally make a point to oil anything, as I've had good luck with no rusting for the past several years. I mostly credit my AC for keeping the room cool and dry, so I was worried about everything while I was gone.
Tomorrow, once I'm fully unpacked and have everything else taken care of, I'll do more thorough inspections of everything. I don't really want to go out anywhere, so I'll wait until I'm back to work Monday to pick up some oil and a roll of paper towels, so I can have them on-hand next time.
Just glad to be back with all my sharp friends. Sure, I took some knives along, just the usual EDC, but everything else was a bit much...

There was one time where I may have taken a sageo off one of my swords and kept it in my pocket during a 10 day trip away from them 😂
