If anyone else follows Lk Chen on Facebook it seems they have a rapier in the works. I’m very excited for this as it seems it will be a rapier with a cutting blade and Lk Chen makes some sharp blades. Finally us Rapier users can show the world they can cut!

I haven't seen anything about a rapier from LK Chen, but he did just post a sneak peek of a new USA 1860 cavalry saber.

I'll be waiting. Hopefully it'll be a good repo as none really exist and I missed the M1906 when it was available.

OH MY GOODNESS. Is that the ole wristbreaker? If they have produced an accurate replica of the 1840 or 1860 with a blade of proper thickness and distal taper, I'll lose my mind.

For those without Facebook.
Thanks for the photos Alientude. I see a few things I don’t like and question. Hopefully they get things squared away before production. Any information on the statistics?

I haven't seen anything about a rapier from LK Chen, but he did just post a sneak peek of a new USA 1860 cavalry saber. Not super educated about US cav sabers. Is it confirmed as a 1860 repro? How do you tell the difference between the 40 and 60?

I have no clue about that either. I'm just going off what LK Chen posted, which was the pictures and "New production,USA 1860 cavalry saber."

Hopefully he's pulling measurements off of an original. Even if he's not, LK Chen has a history of revising their products pretty quickly, so I'll probably give this one a year and a half.

Usually I stay clear away from Sabre reproductions, but I may have to change that for LK Chen. That looks really nice in the pictures. May even get one for my dad, he's always asking me about those I just haven't found the right antique for the right price I'm willing to pay.
For those wondering about the differences, look no further than this forum:

The photos of the 1860 look pretty good. The fuller terminations especially look nice and crisp. A seemingly common issue with such repro’s is that the grip is too short (so-called “micro grip”). I see the claimed 5” grip, but the knuckle guard has that semi-circular shape usually associated with an under-size grip. In the Dave Kelly article (linked above), the elongated knuckle guard of the original can be seen. Regardless, I’m excited that LKC is making these. I was very impressed with their niuweidao, and hope their Euro style offerings are equally impressive. Edit: In a promotional video, the grip looks to be generous in its dimensions. I’m excited to see the progression of this line. Wups. Never mind. The video states that the saber is an antique. Still, if they accurately reproduce it, perhaps the repro will have correct proportions. sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/68385/yanling-cavalry-us1860-saber-comparison

I'm really interested to see the LK Chen rapier! The 1860 also looks really good judging from the pictures and beats the crap out of the Indian made repros!
I'm actually concerned if it's too good! A scammer could buy one and artificially age it up and sell it as an "antique." The antique market is flooded already with counterfeits!
