My collecting focus is acquiring as many different types of swords as possible. Noticeably missing were the Spartan type. Recently I had an opportunity to get two. The top one is an Unbranded Chinese (Uchin) model and the lower one, from United Cutlery (UC) stats: UChin
blade-stainless steel 18 inches grip-faux leather, 5 inches overall length-26 inches POB-2 1/4 inches UC
blade-carbon steel, 23 1/4 inches grip-rubberized, 4 inches overall length-30 inches POB-9 3/4 inches Both swords came in well under $100 each and I’m pretty happy with them. The UC version is simply massive and less nimble than the UChin, but I see the advantages in both. I do like the UChin profile a bit better as the pointy end is a slightly better thruster, and the guard and pommel are steel, whereas in the UC version they are ABS, which I think is fine as it’s primarily an offensive, not defensive, weapon. Each came mighty sharp and cut through water bottles and tree branches with ease. In the zombie apocalypse, I can see using both swords in tandem.
