Sup peeps, after much deliberation I've designed my own MasterSword commission for PD. Here's my main Draft, there is gonna be some extra adornments in the final design but heres the overall shape and specs. I'm open to pointers, tell me what do y'all think?
SIDE NOTES I'm still iffy about the guard, not sure if I should bump it up to 9 inches, also not sure what material would be best.

Seems to be a great project. I forgot to ask about the fittings when we chatted about the design. Are they going to be made of brass?

Most likely, I was debating on plain steel for bluing purposes but I might try the look of brass first. I wanted to try nitre bluing the pieces( you can get some really cool "ethereal/magic" type colors with nitre) but it wont be possible once its peened lol
Also heres a modified measurement sheet, mainly just making the curves in the blade a little more subtle. I realized if I make the swell to big, not only will throw off the balance, but it will be an akward fit in the scabbard lol.

Maybe turn it perpendicular to the sword, like a nagel?

Maybe turn it perpendicular to the sword, like a nagel? Could work, also considering just incorparating the design in the pommel, but would prefer to get it in the guard

On the biggorons sword you could also use a hollow brass or copper coin, or even a thin copper /brass plate, welded on to a blued steel guard. Wouldn't be that bad for weight
One thing I love about the sword in game is thrusting, I feel the sword should be somewhat stiff with a central ridge. But that's just my personal taste. Maybe a steel handle and slightly larger pommel to help balance it? Or even just a slightly bigger pommel and a wooden grip
If you wanted the goofy looking guard it could be hollow too. But it wouldn't be hard to stream line it

I can tell you the guard it self is going to be streamlined, probably 20mm wide at the most, and 10mm thick, which is still pretty hefty for a guard, but is also why having trouble because it also doesnt leave allot of room for the symbol lol.

Another update. The handle came out abit longer than i anticipated, but so far it looks good. Might have him redo some parts while hes finishing up the blade. Welcome to any critiques.

Wait what is the weight measured in? Very cool! I beleive thats in grams, keeping in mind that its still in need of some grinding in that stage Target wieght is sub 1500 grams(just below 3.5lbs) In hindsight i made the blade a little too wide. If i decreased the dimmesions by about 15% it would probably be lighter, but I wanted something with allot of presence lol.

Brass work is coming out nicely, wonder if i can ask him to add a satin/antique finish to it.

Nice it's coming along well! You could ask for the finish but I kinda like it shiny.
